cyphersyeah i’m getting consultant vibes not wallstreet
WoFlowzenergy economist/consultant. If i go to Darty i think I’ll do econ with a minor in environmental policy or studies and then concentrate the econ in energy econ. Huge market for clean energy and also solving energy/water crisis. plus they have tons of sweet econ electives thru tuck and hands on programs like the energy justice clinic
profa_212Do you just wake up every morning and slap together degrees and decide that you'll make a shitload doing it?
I swear I've seen you change your degree at least 10 times and every time you are somehow convinced you'll make way more money than you actually will lmao

WoFlowzi’ve been pretty set on econ with some sort of major or minor. i’m not cut out for med school/pre med tbh. I don’t wanna do finance as much because of the numbers etc. Plus econ would allow me to work a while and if i hate it become a teacher or get a phd and become a professor like my great great grandfather and great grandfathers and they had pretty sweet life’s. It’d also allow me to lobby with the environmental studies or policy side depending on where i end up

r00kieI wouldn’t worry about what you’ll do so much yet. By all means, study something that is worthwhile to society so that you get a job out of it, but when you’re just starting undergrad start with something you are genuinely curious about and go from there. Odds are you’ll change your major before you finish your second year, and that’s okay. Calling/purpose/vocation is a hard thing to find and most people go through different ones. You’re young, go try things out and see where you land.
profa_212100% what rookie said. Also, stop worrying about being loaded all the time. Obviously don't go to college for art studies or something........ I am just saying that I know a lot more middle class people who followed something they were genuinely interested in and are genuinely happy in life, than I know rich people who are happy they followed the money.

WoFlowzyea but im actually interested in making greener industry and markets? the only way these things change at a systemic level is if congressional members stop being funded or their shares stop making profits. that’s what id like to do. Dartmouth and SLU have amazing fellowship and volunteer opportunities doing things like this. Mostly consulting local and regional municipalities/providers about energy or water issues and the money behind it. Some of these programs even help secure charitable funding or government grants for these things. Both schools offer amazing electives concentrated in how the economy effects the environment and vice versa.
BradFiAusNzCoCaIt is a grind out there right now but just like that - two job offers happened at once.
One clear winner with compensation I wanted and I’m pretty stoked about it. Just gotta keep at it in this market. It truly is “at bats”, so to speak.
GayWolf420Can kind-of resonate with this but on a dirtbags level so to speak. I have employment for shoulder season and the summer/fall but my Patrol Director offered employment in shoulder season helping out other departments until Bike Season starts for Bike Patrol and hella work projects for next season. I wanna swing both. I kind of dont mind working 60+ hours a week if its outside here, cuz its soooo fuckin pretty in Grand County/Grand Lake.
SteezyYeeterI just got into a summer program thingie. I'm going there for ecology. engineering was my top choice but I guess that's probably pretty popular. anyways with talk of jobs n stuff is ecology any good? I will see over the summer if it piques my interest, could be captivating (I didn't want to use interest twice in the same sentence) to me with skiing and all.

MichiganCatFartI’m sitting in my car in a parking ramp, a lady goes to get into the car on my left and slams her door into my car, I stare at her in disappointment. while I’m doing that, a lady in open the door to the car on my right and slams her door into my mirror. We need an all male parking ramp

CeleryI have a calc 2 exam at 8am tomorrow and a physics exam immediately afterwards. Pray for me.
SlowbroYou can’t apply to get rescheduled for an exam conflict?
CeleryNo, it's really not.
CeleryI have a calc 2 exam at 8am tomorrow and a physics exam immediately afterwards. Pray for me.
CeleryNah, the calc one is from 8:00 to 8:50 and the Physics is from 9:00 to 9:50 so they wouldn't change anything.
