You know you work at a ski shop when....

couldn't find one of these with searchbar and im also kind of curious how many members actually work in shops.

got a couple to start with

You know you work at a ski shop when:

Your clothes are absolutely covered in wax and you have to explain this often

You're astoundingly poor but rock a 1000 dollar ski setup

You tell girls you will tune their stuff for free and tell guys to fuck off you're busy.

You're skis are covered in weird obscure stickers no one understands

You hate certain brands because they generate a lot of trash (im looking at you Giro)

You dig through trash to find more forgotten stickers

You ski around your local hill and constantly recognize skis that you setup or tuned

I hate it when people in my local shop try and bro me up, whenever I go to my shop Im there to buy a specific item and leave. Also I hate it when they try and up sell you like oh your 150 pounds, you should go with the highest din fks...

if you're 150+ lbs and charge an fks 18 would be plenty acceptable (as long as you're over the age of 10). Thats not to say you couldn't use a 14 either. Check a din chart.

speaking as someone who works in a shop, im still confident in my 14 year old ski knowledge. some people who work in shops who really dont know shit. i like to think i was pretty knowledgeable hahahaha

I am 15 years old and I think that I know just about as much as anyone about ski gear. I am in the process of building a ski press and hopefully starting a small company. I have been researching for two years now. I am yet to be told something by anyone at my shop that I didn't already know. Just saying. Don't take this as me being cocky either, I am not trying to be.

- When you know more about snowboards than your friend who's been riding for his entire life.

you treat everyone on rentals with scorn.

whe you look at skis on the rack and decide what kind of tune they need

You know you work at a ski shop when you are a park skier who knows everything about the bevel to skis.

when your fingers and knuckles are constantly bloody from putting liners in their shells.
when you work extra hard to make some more money only to put it back into the store that gave it to you.
when a family is walking up to the door that you just know will be getting 4+ sets of in house rentals and everyone you are standing at the counter with is instantly busy rearranging the ski wall or re-zipping jackets leaving one person to do the rental because they were too slow.
when you can name every upcoming trick and every song in latest and greatest ski movies that play 93 times each day.
when you can instantly name every detail, technology and dimension of every ski on the wall because you have already skied every one, studied them repeatedly out of excitement at first then boredom later and made the orders for them all in the first place.

The techs in the rental shop at my mountain generally know more and do a better job than the techs at my local shop. I'm aware this isn't always the case though.
