Hi, I'm shortly going to be buying a pair of bindings for next season and I've found two particularly good deals on what (as far as I know) are very good bindings. Based on experience which of the two would you pick? I'll be doing 90% park/jibbing so I need something that will stand up to getting a few knocks.
basically, don't fuck with any salomon bindings unless they're from the driver series. Same goes for marker unless its in the royal family. I'd say get your hands on some look pivot 14s or salomon sth 12/14 driver. If you don't ski too aggressively, go for griffons, but I've heard of people who ski hard shredding those things in a couple days.
The only problem i have with the STH 12 drivers is availability, only one place I know of in the UK stocks them. They're also a little above budget. How are they in terms of weight?
They're really light. I have px12 bindings on my other skis and my STH's are loads lighter. I can see your problem though being in the uk. But really, they're great bindings.
Go with the STH 12 Driver. The Z toe is not as bad as everyone makes out, you would be surprised how many riders actually use it. The Driver is better though simply becuase of the extra adjustability. The construction is pretty bomb prof toe, the only brocken STH's I have seen were one were the toe height adjustment had striped but it was caused by the guy using an AT boot in it and he had to put the toes way to high. The other was just a brocken brake mount which was easy to fix.
As for buying them in the UK, give Ellis Brigham a try they stock the STH bindings and are usally some of the best prices once the sales kick in. They also have the best staff depending which shop you go to.
Have you used it yourself? And I mean the oversized Z toe you get with the STH not the Z toe from the Z line of bindings. Its a differnt toe piece but people here seem to forget that. Have a look at some of laurent Martines edits he rocks the STH z toe, and Im pretty sure he goes bigger then most here. From my experience once the foward pressure is set its a very solid binding, not as strong as the Driver but still very good.
I'm leaning towards the mojo 12, the cheapest pair of sth 12 drivers i can find is nearly twice the price of the mojos, also i'm only around 140 pounds so they don't have to stand to a very large amount of pressure.
Yeah mojo 12 are a good binding, I just found them a bit heavy, but they were really solid and easy to adjust. You do lose some adjustability in the tow piece over the Driver toe, but espeically in the UK the Mojo 12 is very cheap.
What about all the other events when they did not come off. Come on you cant put a binding down because it once released when it should'nt have. You have no idea if the foward pressure was correct, if the din was high enough, if the toe height was correct or the wing pressure.
