My dad is in a mid life crisis so bad.

In the last year and a half he bought:
-a corvette
-a bmw 325xi
-a bmw 335 which he put the m3 engine in and did a bunch performance mods to and a sick body kit
- a porche 911 carrera
-and a harley somewhere in there

and I don't really get to drive any of them :(

And to op, I would say a bmw 335, I works pretty well for an everyday car but is still classy as fuck, and you still have room for four more un like the porch or corvette

check out the BBC TV show Top Gear. crazy british guys with all the money from Planet Earth to spend/test/destroy any car they basically want. im pretty sure you can write to them with something that the OP and they might make a episode and pick two of the best cars for that and compare them and drive really fast in them....its a good show with very nice (F1) and not so nice cars(4 door Porsche)

It's a convertible, It's European, It's fast, it's safe.
And it has AWD so he is less likely to slide of the road against a tree.
And have I mentioned it's fast? It's pretty much the Alpha dog under the 911's,.

IMO, if your dad is initially looking at Z4's and SLK verts, he doesn't really care about rip-your-face off performance. Just something nice, sporty, that he can drop the top and cruise in?

Anyway, bullshit in this thread aside, I'd suggest a 996 porsche C4s cab.

Still new-ish, awd (I see you're from ontario, maybe this could be a good thing?), decent performance and reliability (make sure to get a documented car), and for what it's worth, i'd say they are some of the best looking 996 cars.

calgary: 70km, would drop into his price range.

speed is everything- name one car under 70k that is as good as a z06- nothing- and dont say a gtr- used they are still stupid expensive and every single one of them has had the shit beat out of em

and realistically you can get a low mileage c6 z06 for under 45k

I look at the plastic argument like this- lets look at an audi a8- the wood in the car is plastic- for $100+k

to get real wood in a car your looking at maybach, rolls, bentley, or building it yourself

my pics are a 993 911- or if he wants newer a 996 -370z would be awesome and come with a warranty

but if he is having a mid life crisis sack up and get the p-car

My dad just went through this and picked up a 1990 Mercedes SL500 for like 15,000ish. Low miles, AMG wheels and exhaust and is WAY classier than any BMW Z3/4 or Mercedes SLK.
