It would be nice if the SN links in threads (UKnow,TheOneAboveTheIcon) used a pop up like the sidebar.

would be great if you could hotlink someone by typing @"theirname"

like ^^ @Mike-O and it would turn blue/hotlink to his profile, the same way it does with people on FB ...

meh i dunno, the @ in front would prevent too much hotlinking, but if you want to you can easily hotlink someone with it, i think it works great on FB, so maybe it would work here too ...
