just to answer your questions, when launching out of a pipe you would be using the same motion on your back or face and not on your feet...does that make sense

working on air awareness......spotting, knowing exactly what your body is doing in the air at all times. Controling everything. You don't need to land on your feet for that.

Thats not exactly true, if you leave your bike like that in park city, yes it will be fine, but in salt lake, bums would fight over it

This, I'm quite sure that him doing bed tricks has nothing to do with the fact that he is training for pipe. In pipe skiing, the centripetal force holds you to the wall and it is the same as any other takeoff. For sure practicing on your feet is more similar. I'm sure he just wants to protect his legs.

he's just working on rotations and air awareness.
twice as effective to land on your back or stomach then your feet because your mind is telling you to land on your feet but your forcing yourself to land somewhere else. makes learning where you are in the air way more difficult, and hence, way more effective.

this. guys, bed tricks don't mimic pipe tricks. Bed tricks are baller as fuck and are really good for gymnastic fundamentals, and Tanner happens to be really good at them.
