Ticket in quebec?

I got a parking ticket in quebec that i want to contest. on the ticket it says you cant park more than 4 hours in a public zone but there are no signs or anything and i was within the times on the parking signs. i want to contest it but do you think i have a chance?

how much is it ? cause if it's only 50 or 60 bucks.. don't worth the shot, just pay it cause if you contest it, you're going to court and you'll have to pay some court fee even if you win !

no you dont? its not like hes hiring a lawyer.

pros and cons of fighting parking tickeys.

pros - almost always get knocked down in price or chucked out all together.
cons - almost always scheduled on a work day.

if you got nothing better to do fight it.

I'm not sure even if he don't hire a lawyer but if you were parking in front of a parking meters, it's true you can't park for 4 hours.. you need to change your car to another place. And did your parking meter went off time before you come back to your car ?

i know in ontario you have to acknowledge your fighting it within 15 days.

and a scheduled court date normally takes about 6 months.

i used to fight parking tickets at school all the time, not cause i thought i would win, but because you can defer paying them for 6 months, which equalled summer job time.

i wasnt at a parking meter. it was on a street near my school with a sign that said no parking between 2 am and 6 am, just so that people dont leave their car overnight.

I had a similar experience in Quebec, got a $45 ticket for parking past midnight on a residential street in a certain time of year. One of those bylaws that unless you are a resident you would have no idea existed.

I was going to contest, but talked to a couple people who have experience with that sort of thing and they said it's nearly impossible to get a ticket like that even knocked down and for the $45 it's really just not worth the time and effort.

If you really think you have a chance, go for it. I though I would have too it being one of those residential streets with no traffic that everybody normally just parks on the side of and there were absolutely no signs anywhere.

but didnt have to pay any court fees right? i have no life so i have no problem wasting my time. the guy who gave me aticket will have to show up too though wont he?

no court fee's, this isnt the states. very likely chance you wont even step foot in a court room, youll speak to a prosecuter and they will deal with it.

no, if parking guys had to go to court for every ticket they gave out that got fought they might aswell be lawyers cause they would never leave court.

its nowhere near as big of a deal as your making it out to be. fight it, see when your court date is, if you can make it, go, see if they knock it down, and if they dont, you got however many extra months to pay it.

yea if you take it to court and the officer who gave you the ticket doesn't show, you automatically win/don't have to pay the ticket.

and I have no idea about court fees as I just ended up paying instead of going to court. but a quick google search should answer that. I'd imagine there are none for a traffic violation.

the law states that you must know the law, that is the law. its dumb as fuck but you could get screwed. if you live outside of quebec you might have a better chance. you pay nothing if you win, but ad like an extra 80 if you lose.

they have to be present. most of the time if they're not they'll just reschedule, either that or throw the ticket out of court meaning you don't have to pay. Not as many people contest in court as you'd think.

hes not a officer, hes a parking bitch. they will not be in court. guaranteed. dosnt mean you automatically win.

this is absolutely true.

I'd laugh it was different province by province and we were both right. but here, read this:

If the motorist pleads not guilty, a trial date is set and both the motorist, or a lawyer/Paralegal representing the motorist, and the ticketing officer, are required to attend. If the officer fails to attend, the court judge will often find in favour of the motorist and dismiss the charge, although sometimes the trial date is moved to give the officer another chance to attend. In some provinces, officers are now paid time and a half to attend traffic proceedings.


ticketing officer can also be bylaw officer.

it should say on it how long you have to pay/make a court date. either 15 or 30 days I think is the normal depending on residency.

yes, for serious offenses.

he got a parking ticket man, not a DUI. he didnt park his car that was on fire in a handicap spot either.

the by-law bitch that wrote your ticket will not be there, he wont even be contacted and notified that you are fighting his ticket. guaranteed.

you dont even want to know how many parking tickets, moving violation tickets, speeding tickets ive fought.

This is how I used to get out of parking tickets...

1. Dont pay it.
2. Wait for the notice in the mail of them asking you to pay.
3. When you get it, call the number and BITCH TO NO END...

And when I mean bitch, I mean you go fucking apeshit on a hoe... Tell her that the department she works for is so incompetent that they cant figure out how to fucking cash a cheque that you sent in the mail etc etc. I've had at least 3 parking tickets taken off this way from a few different ticket agencies haha.

If you need to, ACTUALLY bring it to court, write a fake cheque listing in your chequebook, date it for that date, and burn the actual cheque, or something. Show them your chequebook, and they take a libertarian point of view on it usually and write it off for you.

If it's that expensive of a ticket that it's worth it, and quebec is anything like Oakland, California, it will work. haha.

k i just checked and i have 30 days. but it also says:

si vous plaidez non coupable, une date d'audition vous sera fixee. toutefois, la loi prevoit des frais si:

vous changez votre plaidoyer (avant le proces) 25$

vous demandez une remise 30$

vous etes declare coupable lors du proces 85$

what exactly is the proces? that means that i have to pay an extra 85 if i lose?

If you pleed guilty, a court date will be arranged. However, the law forsees charges if:

you change plee (before the process) 25$

you ask to have it pushed back 30$ (i think thats what it means)

you are declared guilty during the process 85$

hmm, ontario tickets dont have that.

im not entirely sure what the process is.

you best bet is to contact the municapility you received the ticket in and questions this process?
