Cell phone use can increase possible cancer risk

peer reviewed studies reporting possible links between cell phones and carcinogens and other good stuff. obviously we dont have any long term studies yet but it'd be a bummer if 95% of the US population has brain cancer in 30 years..

thoughts?

i've heard men who carry their cellphones in their pockets are at high risk for this...
This freaks me the fuck out because i always ahve my phone in my pocket... sometimes i psych myself out and think my balls hurt too... fuck

the sarcastic answers make no sense, because we don't KNOW the answer one way or the other, but we do realize that there's a huge chance we're blasting ourselves with bad shit every day.. but people (especially our age) use cellphones ALL DAY.. and i guarantee none of you hold it an inch away from your ear all the time like you're "supposed" to

point is, the jury's still out, and in the meantime, in classic human behavior fashion, we're just not even thinking about it and using our cell phones like theyre a part of our body (i'm guilty too)

so does pretty much everything else. for example charcoal users, which is a pretty common thing, are at higher risk.

naw i wasnt trying to get on your case, i'm just saying the feeling that the sarcastic answers points to is the attitude that we're all like yeah duh we know.. yet we use cell phones an ABSURD amount.. will be interesting to see what ends up happening

Imagine in 20 years when all you have to do is take a pill to get rid of the cancer, AND there are little to no side effects...

yeah youre right but my point earlier was almost nothing i can think of (that is non-essential, off the top of my head) is as ubiquitous as cell phones.. i mean the percent of the US using cell phones was above 80% a couple years ago i think, and it's only going up.. 85+% of the US isnt smoking cigs..

valid point... but remember decades ago probably about 50%+ used to smoke until it was PROVEN that smoking = cancer, then many people stopped

This will probably be the case for cellphones, right now its more of a warning without proof than an actual occurence.

The problem with this is that cigarettes serve no actual useful function.  Cell phones are basically integrated into our daily lives now.  Hell they're a fifth limb for some people in the business world.  Email, business calls, bank accounts, etc.  They're just far too useful for people to say "Oh i can get cancer? I'm done using it."  I don't see it happening.

there are already some types of cancer treatments where something is eaten in order to reduce it. so its not that unrealistic

I saw this report on the news this morning and honestly, it really didn't seem news worthy. They were reporting the fact that studies were inconclusive...Seems like such a stupid thing to report to me. They basically just reported that literally nothing has changed and it could still go either way.
