Who else hopes the debt ceiling is NOT raised?

i think the people who oppose the debt ceiling being raised will be the SAVIORS of america and they will go down in history as being the people who stopped americas holocaust of debt before it completely destroys us. If the debt ceiling is not raised, then we will hit it, and we will be forced to stop the process of destroying america. So I hope more than anything that the republicans stay strong and do not raise the debt  ceiling like the democrats want them to.

Mr Obama has more hatred inside of him than anybody i have ever seen. He wants to destroy the wealth of those who have built our country, and he wants to scare away any people who want to choose america as a place to store their wealth safely. He is really the worst thing to happen to our country in a very long time

but back tp reality, mr obama said today to the press that everything is fine and they will come to an aggreement with the republicans to raise the debt ceiling. but later obama said the republican's offers to match spending cut with increase in debt ceiling dollar for dollar was dead on arrival and that obama will veto it and cause a default. Obama reminds me of a pompous 16 year old girl who thinks she will always get her way... it simply disgusts me. I hold by my stance that americaand particularly obama needs to be taught a lesson, and if obama vetos the totally necessary debt cuts than he will be the only one to blame. I still hope the debt limit is not increased, because the us doesnt deserve to have an aaa credit rating, because the way obama spends money we will never be able to pay it back. i am all for a slight increase in taxes to the levels that bill clinton had them at but obama wants tax payer genocide... literally obama wants to rape the tax payer to pay for free everything for everyone.We need drastic change in the us and if we dont get it the us will be called the former us just like the former ussr

i reallly reallly really cannnot fucking stress thsi enough... a default this august would lead to a FORCED reconsolidation which will put america back on the road to a TRUE return to prosperity and economic stability. POSTPONING POSTPONING POSTPONING is like driving at 100 miles an hour towards a wall and not pushing the brakes. America needs to slow down NOW, fucking RIGHT NOW, and if we dont, we will eventually hit the wall at full speed and america will be completely destroyed, much worse than a little moodyls downgrade from not raising the stupid fucking debt ceiling. The fact that liberals and democrats say a downgrade would be "catastrophic" just shows how pathetically vulnerable the US is in our current situation of debt and spending. I am so sick of the fucking drama, we need a depression, we need to have a few years where the economy sucks. And then we will return to prosperity. The debt limit should not be increased. If we hit it now, Obama will be forced to face the music and fix our problems now. If we extend the debt limit, we are just pronging the problem and makinng it much much much worse

severe severe spending cuts in addition to very low taxes are the only way to save america. The japanese avg iq is 8 points higher than the us iq, the german iq is the same at 10x compared to the us avg at 100. There are, however, some of the smartest people in the world in the united states, but there are also people here who dont even know how to speak proper english. If we let obama attack the reach and redistribute to the poor, the brilliant minds will #1 leave america, #2 they will stop coming to america, and #3 people in both america and abroad will send their money to banks in friendlier safer countries like switzerland germany the uk singapore hong kpng and emerging markets. Mr Obama, is so stupid... he does not realize that people have a choice of where to put their money. America has done well in the past because it has been a capitalist haven in the past. Just as singapore and hong kong have become the most prosperous per capita nations in the world. Mr obama doesnt realize that long term, Capitalism wins, socialism loses

^sorry german avg iq is 108, same as japan... the countries with the highest iqs tend to be the ones that make the best cars (mercedes, audi, bmw, vw porsche, honda, toyota, nissan, subaru etc) and technology (seimens, sony, nintendo,) the list foes on. The highest avg iq countries produce the best technology. Nigeria isnt making a car that will compete with the bugatti v eyron any time soon. My point is that americas capitalist past has been a magnet for the best and brightest minds from india. japan, china germany, great britain.... but if obama wants to turn america into a socialist country that bites the hand of bill gates andmark zuckerberg...how many geniuses are mov ing to chay's communist venesuela? the answer is none. CAPIALIST NATIONS WILL ALWAYS PROGRESS FASTER THAN SOCIALIST NATIONS. in fact socialism makes nations go backwards towards the stone age until the socialist nation becomes a slave to the capitalist nation. im done rantinting for today, nut i suggest any socialists on ns (gnartron/proletariate) to go to venesuela, get kidnapped, raped and murdered and then tell us how great socialism is

its like 4 days away now... a boston university professor said that americas real debt is going to end up being 211 trillion. Yes 2 hundred and 11 trillion with a T. So again i think if you really want america to succeed, you need to have a system shock like a debt default in order to get ourselves back on track

And I know Bush fucked shit up while he was in office BUT hasn't Obama made the debt go from somewhere in the billions of dollars to someplace in the trillions of dollars? He isn't completely innocent in this. I wish he would explain to us how he thought spending more money... TWICE... would get us out of debt.

I'll be watching this financial crises from Canada with a bag of pop corn and a couple beers. Did you guys really think you could manage being in 3 wars with military bases in 140 countries around the world and still have money for domestic social services. This is pure lulz and long overdue.

btw they won't default on the interest payments. I think the interest payments are about 6% of expenses. They'll cut 6% from something else. ex Health and Human services, Dep. Education, blah blah. Not war spending tho. CANNNOTTTT cut war spending zomg.

I dislike arguing about politics, but I'd like to say that I'm actually a bit proud of NS. I have been watching all of this happen and it appears that 99% of my generation doesn't seem to care. Even my friends that went to school for political science are failing to form opinions. We are only aiding the problem by not caring, by not sharing our opinions, by not contacting our congress members. I'm saddened by this. I admit that I haven't done everything possible. I've done close to that aside from going to some of the protests. I emailed my House representative. I've posted about it. I've encouraged friends to do the same. I don't think anyone else has. Our own apathy is what is destroying the government.

I don't identify with a particular party outside of classic libertarianism in which I pretty much think healthcare should be the only socialized resource. I'm all for voucher systems for education and making sever changes to welfare. I'm a crazy ideologist that realizes that being idealist is crazy.


We, as americans, caused this debt. Be it passively or by vote, we caused it. It is all of our debt. We all need to contribute what we can to fixing it. For some of us that may be higher taxes and for some of us that may be doing more work for free rather than doing nothing for free. For some of us that will be less dollar menu items. For some of us that will mean more public transportation. IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN AND IT IS GOING TO SUCK.

Yea the government spending on wars is pricey, but ushering Dems who think it is their explicit job to spend 24% of GDP exacerbates the problem.

Oh, and if the US falls, Canada falls harder. Fucking parasites (I actually love Canada, but still).

I guess its yours and my opinion whether or not he has good views... I almost never agree with him, but again, thats my opinion.
what bugs me more than anything is his inability to have an actual argument with someone. any time someone has a good point, maher cracks some lame asshole joke, gets his audience laughing, and at that point it doesnt matter what the other guy was saying, he instantly looses, because his audience and the people who take his show seriously think his witty remarks can take place of a valid argument.

its like his movie religulous, im not even slightly religious, i was actually hoping for a good movie about proving crazy religious people wrong.but it wasnt, he spent the whole time insulting people, some who didnt want anything to do with maher in the first place, without giving much of an argument except for maybe a couple times.

i feel like thats the hardcore liberal way of arguing or proving a point, turning into a huge douche, being extremely snobby, and insulting the other guys intelligence.
where the hardcore conservatives way is to yell, scream, and take things way too far.
neither of which really seems to prove a point or really do much.

Woozy, I'd love to hear your comments on this article. Not trying to cut you down and I believe raising taxes for EVERYONE will eventually have to happen for us to pay off the debt rather than just the interest. But yeah, wondering how these facts fit in to your argument.

I didn't say I want to raise the debt ceiling or raise taxes only on the wealthy. I think we should all be paying a bit more and suffering the consequences... cause well. Every option at this point has consequences.

I genuinely just wanted your opinion on that cause although I care a lot, you do know more than I on this and tend to give mostly level headed alternate viewpoints to things like that.

I fully agree. But that's what makes his show popular. If he acted not like a bitchy asshole, he wouldn't get the ratings. What I'm saying is he actually has well formed opinions and is very intelligent on the issues. He just presents it in a manner in which Conservatives think he's a retard.

im not going to get into this shit again but really look what Russia has done. Majority of this fucking country doesnt even have to pay taxes so why not make every single person pay the exact same fucking amount but make it much lower. Russia started with something like a 19% flat tax and has been able to now drop it to something between 13% and 15% This should be where our country goes but it will never happen. fuck.
