Early May At Timberline, what do you guys think?

Haven't put an edit up in M&A for awhile, made this video for the timberline spring video contest. Pretty much the same shots from the WCS edits i made, but i actually put some time into this edit unlike those wcs ones haha. So any feedback, comments, hate, get at me.

that was super sick, the only feed back I really have is more personal opinion but I do not enjoy mixed sound I dont know why but I never have.

Are any of the entries for that contest any good?

not too much a fan of the font used for the titles and names but the edit was real smooth. nice to see normal speed again after all the slow-mo and twixtor edits out there now.

Word, I can never find fonts i absolutely love either :/ just trying these out. As for the transitions, i tried to use them only in certain situations where i thought it looked best, i just was trying to not have everything just be dry cuts.

i liked it, agreed on the transitions, though.
imo the song didn't flow the best with the skiing, i know some people said they liked that the edit wasn't all slow, which i agree with, but i think that is where the song and the skiing worked together the best.
also, couple of follows weren't super smooth, but other than that, looking nice, i always like to see your stuff

Mt. Hood can be surprisingly tricky when it comes to getting levels right; it has super bright snow, with large clumps of darks (trees).

Blacks are relatively straight-forward when it comes to snow footage; the real tonal battle exists between mids/highs. I really liked how you didn't crush your blacks.

A good way to make the image pop without crushing blacks is to set your black points at a level where they are dark but still show lots of detail. Then "crush" the mids, which will make the whole image too dark. Compensate for this by raising whites as much as possible without clipping. You can fine-tune this by once again adjusting the mids.

Histograms are a necessary tool for setting lows/highs, but since you aren't broadcasting the final judgement should be made with your eyes. So just because your blacks technically aren't clipping doesn't mean they aren't "crushed."

-definitely liked how you could see the detail in the trees. as landis said, shooting at hood is tricky for sure so being able to get detail out of such a dark area is impressive.
-i actually really liked the font. it didn't look amateur to me and had kind of a fun, spring feel (which sounds retarded but i dont know any other way to phrase that)
-i didn't mind the transitions at all. but the one at 00:15 felt super, super awkward to me for some reason. it was either the fact that in the first shot you were moving from right to left, then from left to right, or the fact that the transition slid from right to left even though the second shot was from left to right. or a combination of all those things.
-jump shots were soo dope
-i didn't feel like the song worked all that well. it sounded too empty for real time footage. but once you brought in some skiing audio, it flowed better and the shot audio gave it a more full sound.
-it was a little odd to me how there was only audio on some shots, particularly the follow shots. if you're going to include the wind noise, i would turn it down and include audio in every shot. if you're not going to have it in every shot, then i would have only left audio in shots were the skiing sound could be isolated without wind noise, like landing a jump, tapping a rail, etc.

also, I don't really like Wiz so I turned the volume off. Other than that, it was dope!

i enjoyed it but i think you have a glidecam??? if so, so shots were a bit shaky imo. also not a fan of that kind of music but its personnal choice. other then that, it was good, really clean shots and good angles !
