Advice about shoulder surgery

Sup NS, today i went to the doctor and Got an MRI on my shoulder i dislocated during lax season, turns out i have a torn laburm and need to get surgery, the recovery period is 5 months

this summer im going to a few lacrosse recruiting camps and Evolve chile

my problem is if i get surgery now ill miss the camps and evolve,but if i wait till after ill miss my whole football season,

so guy what do you think i should do?

personally, id miss football season, but from a medical standpoint you should probably get the surgery now, you really dont want to screw it up worse than it is now

I'm getting shoulder surgery tomorrow! getting a plate out though

and I'd say the sooner the better. You don't want to be playing lacrosse or skiing in Chile before having surgery and really fuck it up way worse than it is now. although Chile alone sounds 1000x better than football season, maybe that's just me.

Get surgery ASAP. I had the same thing you did, and I decided to get operated on immediately. I'm very glad I did because it takes a while to get back into things. 5 months is not very conservative, it took me around 7 months or so to really get back into things. Its your long term health, so get it fixed. You want to be able to toss a ball with your kids when you're 50.

I would get it in the fall if it doesn't hurt that bad. I wouldn't want to fuck up my summer.

Also, if you wait until the fall, you will also crush your winter ski season.

im not waiting till fall for the sugery, id probably get the surgery when i get back form chile, so like early august, so id only really miss early ski season, probs be back on snow late december

why would it stop you from going to chile?

its not really that painful or anything just takes time getting your movement and strength back

obviously you havnt had your shoulder repeatedly dislocate when you least expect it

also i know it wont stop me from going to chile but i dont know if i should get it sooner and miss chile but be back for football season + having my shoulder dislocate and possibly have to have someone pop it back in for me while in chile doesnt seem like the most fun experiance

actually i have. and i've had the surgery too. why don't you get the surgery immediately and still go to chile. once you get the surgery there's not much chance of it coming back out. they clamp it down real tight. the 5 months recovery is just to get your movement and strength back. It wouldn't stop you from skiing or hiking or whatever. just ski with caution and don't do stupid shit that could damage your shoulder.

oh, sorry for the mean comeback then man, but the thing is im going to evolve in chile so i know ill be doing stupid stuff that could damage my shoulder

i did the same thing skiing at the beginning of the year. i dont know your personal injury so i cant say to take this advice. but i did physical therapy for like 12 weeks and its almost healed now. TALK TO YOUR DOCS

i'd base it on how much you care about football vs skiing/how good you are at them.
i do cross country in the fall and my team doms shit and if they dont have me theyre fucked.
but i'd still go to chile because skiing is #1 for me, and i hate running anyways.

you just have to prioritize. if you're in grade 12 or something and you have a shot at a football scholorship then do football for sure, if camp is really important to you then do that.

dub post! but it sounds like yours is way worse than mine was. it only dislocated when it initially happened. i only had a few minor subluxations throughout the first few weeks
