What brand a skier has as a sponsor is more important than skiing itself. I mean, god forbid Pollard ever wears North Face, because that would certainly mean some sort of apocalypse was imminent. I wouldn't look as cool to all my homeless friends on the mountain if I wore North Face, thus I must buy Causwell. But now that Pollard is no longer with Causwell, WHAT DO I BUY!?!?!?!? I NEED GUIDANCE POLLARD

It's exactly like the blog post said. Things were mutual. There weren't other factors involved like Surface trying to get Pollard on board. It was just a mutual split because the two parties saw themselves in different places in the future.
