So i am curently 15 years old. I want to get back in nice "beach shape" for summer and alot of my free time is spent in a gym, i was wondering if protein powder was ok for kids my age? Wil it stunt/kill my growth, etc. Thanks for the upcomming tips NS!!

standard Whey Protein powder will be fine for you. it will not screw up your growth or body, it's just protein.

a great resource to use for information and learning about lifting is bodybuilding.com. They have tons of good info for every level of lifter from somebody starting out like you to seasoned bodybuilders.

at your age there is definitely no need for supplements..even whey protein.

you will notice better results with a healthy diet and increasing your caloric intake.
anybody who tells you otherwise-not the smartest.

if you really want to ignore what i just said, whey protein is fine for you

Eggs and milk are sometimes healthier for you than protein whey powder stuff - bit more natural.

And make sure you work out - but don't just take the protein and expect to gain muscle overnight. If you want to get toned all over quickly go swimming - and then focus on your arms or pecs at the gym

protein powder is just barely below steroids in its danger to teens. It can have all sorts of negative side effects ranging from liver cyrosis, to terrible acne, to heart valve thickening. Pure protein can be very dangerous to you even in small amounts, especially at a young age.


Its not worth it, just stick to wearing a shirt at the beach...that protects you from the suns harmful radiation as well.

also, under 18 i had a sixpack and well formed muscles just because i did alot of sport, i've actually never even been to a gym :)

its only after 18 that you get fat from all the beer and good food and you need to start working out just to keep in shape :)

I'm sure protein powder is fine, but I read somewhere that if you work out a lot as a kid you use testosterone destined for your corporal growth for muscle growth and can stunt your growth.

you shouldn't do too much heavy lifting at 15, and there's no reason to either

if you want to lift then do high reps of low weight and get fit. once you're older you can start doing big squats, dead lifts, and presses but for now stick to smaller stuff, abs, and cardio

please take this fellows advice on bodybuilding.com. NS is not the place for workout advice. also there is no problem with adding protein powder to your diet. it is great for whenvyou cannot get a meal in you or for right after a workout.

use medium weights like curl 15 pounds max with dumbbells, and bench like 65 max otherwise it will stunt ur growth, and ya protein powder is fine for you it builds muscle as long as u have physical activity

get a physical labor job and play sports.

there,

earn money, have fun and get healthy without wasting time in a gym. its summer. get outside.

you can take it another level and strech and do some push ups in the morning every day. don't have to do a lot but it will add up.

My cousin started eating protien powder at like 14, next thing you know he gained like 50-75lbs, but it wasn't muscle...

but really my two cents is to start working out 3 times a week or so for around 8 months before you consider getting whey. iv gained 10 pounds without whey so far, so although it might be usefull, it isn exactly necissary.

supplementation is never neccessary. Supplements are meant to supplement your already super good diet and training regimen. But god dammit does whey powder help you reach your macros easier.
