hey ns. i need your help, and i must say i am utterly disgusted with what's going on. montreal's largest pound is practicing unprofessional and illegal, amongst disgusting treatment towards lost or abandonned pets, and we would like you to take part in taking down this abomination. please sign the petition to urge the montreal city hall to shut down the operation.

if you own your pet, imagine you lost it, and this pound found it, and offered you virtually no help to get it back to you, killed it inhumanely and tossed it in the trash. please sign.

this pound is known for using gas chambers to dispose of unwanted or lost pets, and is also linked to ignoring a recently discovered population of feral dogs living in montreal north, some of which dogs were found frozen to death.

here's a report that was on the news, i must warn you, it's somewhat graphic, and not nearly as some we've witnessed, but displays it's incompetence and disregard for the animals that may or may not already belong to people.

im not saying im pro-dogholocaust , im just wondering what the alternative is for this? will all the pets just be kept in another pound till they die naturally? will there just be a ton of dogs on the street and stuff?

people need to listen to the advice of Bob Barker and shit like this wouldnt happen. Bob needed to say it in french too so those damn montrealians could understand and not let their dogs go around knockin up the neighbor's dog.

for sure, everyone who is not documented to breed animals should be legally bound(i know it's extreme) to fix their pet. otherwise, the origin of where most pets come from, not just the pet store is a major issue. quebec has one of the most lax laws on ending and controlling profit breeders and puppymills. we have over 2000 puppymills still active in quebec, and it's horrible, because not only are there too many pets, but there are also deplorable living conditions for the animals who breed.


as for a solution to this, there are tons of rescue organizations across north america who do simply just rescue unwanted and abandonned animals. they take them in, generally do not make profit, find them foster homes until someone wants to adopt them, and then the fee of adopting the pet includes the neutering/fixing and some shots. it's a great program to rehabilitate dogs and cats and exotics who were mistreated or just neglected. the volunteers help socialize the animals so that they become adoptable.

pets aren't disaposable, and it's really a matter of educating people that dogs in particular are not objects of luxury and whatnot, but that they're creatures that you made a promise to uphold a certain standard of living. that you owe it to them because you took responsibility to own a pet, and you should do so at the best of your extent for the remainder of their life.

there are alternative solutions to everything.

Lets go after the underfunded, understaffed, overcapacity animal shelter when we really should be looking for the the shitty pet owners. If we had a similar programe for the homeless people society would be better.

cool, except this argument holds no validity. since i know tons of understaffed, overworked, overpacked rescues and rescue workers work are in debt to do 20x better a job then the berger blanc. they're lazy, not misfortuned.
