Well gee, thanks ; ). I'm surprised you ended up back at school... if I had picked ski bum I never would've looked back haha, especially in Cali. Despite what some dimwitted newschoolers might think, I know exactly what you mean when you say you're a Christian but not religious... that's actually more common than you'd think and a really good thing depending on who you ask.
What Jesus actually did with his life has been so distorted by modern religion... just taking bits and pieces of old systems and attaching his name. He didn't teach love/fear for himself and "God" in his life, and the idea of Christ conciousness was actually around long before it was pinned to him. He was actually influenced by eastern traditions of Buddhism and Hermeticism believe it or not, so was Moses... all he wanted was for all of us to love and respect each other honestly. Today's version of the "Bible" is just a storybook with bits and pieces borrowed from history, you can see countless examples if you start digging.
The idea of a Great Flood, for example, has been around for tens of thousands of years and actually is grounded in the scientific reality of cyclic climate change, not a pissed off Creator. When the Great Pyramid was excavated by the Egyptians (who were NOT the first culture to live there, just moved in from elsewhere (Phoenicians?) and did NOT build the pyramids with manpower and log rollers... to do so would have taken 3-4 lifetimes of the respective pharaohs they were "built for" and more food/resources/people than were available in all of Egypt at the time) there was actually a layer of sea salt inches thick coating the floors and some blocks almost 3/4 of the way up the pyramid had watermarks which were removed to preserve the Egyptian claim to pyramid culture (I know people will want the source for this, but it's something I read months ago and can't seem to find again)
Oh and in case you couldn't tell, I've got a really open mind myself because I never had any kind of belief system forced on me... and for better or worse it's left me unbelievably flexible in my opinions. I've been doing an unhealthy amount of research lately looking for answers and the only conclusion left for me to make is that the history of our world and the way things really work go far deeper than "the man" would care for us to know.
