Frontflip d-spin

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong, but a d-spin is a complete backflip with a rotation of some sort. So what the hell is a complete (on-axis) frontflip with a rotation called. It's probably insanely hard to do, but ive never really thought about.

Don't think of a d spin as a flip. Its a cork that goes inverted...ie. your feet go above your shoulders at some point.

The opposite of that is a misty, which is an inverted bio spin. Bio spin is the opposite of cork...its leaned forward rather than back. A misty is essentially a front flip with a spin in it but its thrown slightly differently than just a frontflip 180. You sort of throw your right hand down to your left knee and then look over the shoulder and imagine rolling your back over a table.

truth^ but a full front flip spin is a brany, where is a full backflip spin in a flair. If that makes sense to the OP

kinda, i believe a backflip 360 is a backfull where the rotation and flip occur at the same time. But a flair is like half a backflip until upside-down and 180, 360 or whatever in the last half.

Mike Douglas, creator of the D spin, did it as an off axis 3 to backflip kind of thing.

JF Cusson had a trick in The Game, where it was a backflip to late 360, the miracle flip. Best trick ever.

Hate to be a stickler, but I do believe that JP Auclair coined the miracle whip (or flip or whatever). At the Jonny Moseley Invitational he went for a rodeo 7 but ended up doing a back to late 3 type thing...


JF kinda threw his rodeos like that around then (like Degenerates/13 ish)




And yes - in my mind a "D-spin" is a cork 3 that doesn't come back to upright axis that is flipped out of. Candide did them beautifully way back in the day. I believe he won x-games big air back in the day with the trick.

Again, I feel old. A D-spin in a forward direction was called a rockbottom, it was kind of like an inverted bio and looked different to a misty 7. Only a couple of people ever threw them, I think there was big air footage of CR doing one.

I think everybody on this thread can agree to disagree on what different tricks are called....the names change from place to place. what i will call a nugget, you will call switch skier slide. what you call a flair, I'll call a rodeo. It's the same trick, just named differently

A flair is a pipe/quarterpipe trick. Approach wall regular, pop, 90 down pipe, lincoln towards pipe interior, 90 down pipe, land forward.

This! Someone posted earlier that a Branny, as it is commonly called now, was a full twisting front. It is a front 180. Shane used to do them a lot. A front full has been done on skis before. Not that tough. The difference between a misty and a front full is how the trick is started. Punch the midget for a misty, Superman cartwheel for front full.

Berrani is a fun trick to do on a trampline and diving boards and such. never bothered to try one on skis, but i'm sure it level of fun would remain the same.

if anyone wants to try one they're super easy. throw a front flip all laid out, but don't take your eyes off the ground, in fact, stare at the ground with all intent. When you get inverted do a hip twist to spin a quick 180 and keep staring at the same spot, you will naturally come around and land backwards. tadah!

all these tricks are very similar just different axis IMO. I often try rodeo and it turns flair, flat or cork. They all look cool and would score similar in comps and to most people would be called the same trick



lead with shoulder get inverted but not full flip. But like its really doesnt matter about the names just feel its good to know what other people and yourself are doing for safety :)

i always thought rodeos were more like inverted flatspins and in that vid he doesn't really go inverted so i'm now confused about the difference between rodeos and flatspins

they pretty much are. Like totally depends on what you consider a rodeo, but its more or less a flatspin with your feet slightly above your head, but not a complete flip, then its turns more underflip.

Confusing, but really its just a fine line. Its all fun so it doesn't really matter

rodeo is basicly like a lincoln loop with a 180 mixed in, look at it as if u are rolling over a table on your back

Just like how Misty's are the opposites of Rodeo's, there are forward versions of corks and d-spins, but they're hard as fuck to do. A forward Cork = Bio, but most forward D-spins get lumped into the "Misty" category.

I've heard the term "Orbital" to describe the trick a few years ago, but as it takes me a great deal of analysis to detect the difference between a forward D-spin and a Misty, its not worth it. I'm fine with lumping them into the Misty category, dont see a need to change, it wont come down to a Misty and Forward D-spin going head to head in any big air finals anytime soon.
