Costa Rica Surf Advice

Has anyone had any experience surfing in costa rica? I am doing a study abroad there for a 5 weeks and then im gonna take a week and just surf. It seems like the pacific is the place to be. ive been looking at surf camps because im not very experienced and the all inclusive stuff sounds nice. thanks for the help!

My uncle went down there for vacation 20 years ago and bought a house and lived there since, so I'm guessing it's pretty nice. If they had snow, I would definitly move there

I was in Costa Rica in March. i'm not a very talented surfer but it appeard tamarindo was only good in the evenings when the tide was high.


there was also a huge number of people selling cocaine/marijuana openly...and it's dirty as hell

when i was in PR we rented a house across from a "surf camp". it was a guy and a girl, average surfers, charging tourists for basically nothing but sitting in the lineup next to them, and if you didnt have a board theyd let you use a soft top they had kicking around. never paddled out with them, but i bought some super overpriced weed off the chick.

haha yeah thats what i realized when i was down there. i just rented a shortboard for the week and sent it and had an awesome time. oh and next time hit up the rastas, they have the hook on the "crippy"

haha i get told that on a regular basis by all of the locals even most people who live in san jose hate it. Everyone outside of it despises it with a burning passion. Call me crazy but I don't think it's too bad, kinda like it here actually. With that being said there are some real motherfuckers in the city so you have to watch your stuff but I guess that's universal
