I made it into the water at surprisingly high speed given the skis I was on. However the microsecond I touched the water I just started kartwheeling backwards.

We had our pond skim yesterday. It was a very odd set up though. a kicky jump into a short pond with a small inrun. it was cold and snowing out so I opted out of it this year, but there were some backflips, 180's, 360's, and my buddy Matt (who ended up winning) did a massive bellyflop in a hotdog suit. Very nice.

Hey doug - if I remember correctly, the pond skim at Blue Mountain would have hot tubs set up for the competitors for when they were done their "run". was this the way, or am I just crazy?

I remember one year when I was a little one skiing in michigan, our little hill had this springfest party where they had a pond skim and some dude caught an edge and slammed his head real hard and got knocked out in the water. Some scary shit for sure.

I've tried it twice, and failed both times. My advice to you would be to make sure you have equal weight on each ski, because what i failed to realize is that when your spotting over your shoulder, there's a little more weight on 1 ski than the other. The result of this is a carving turn in the water towards the side of the pond. GL
