How do you sit at a desk

my chair and desk combo suck, but theres nothing i can do, how can i sit there for long periods of time (hours) without getting a sore back or neck? im studying and my book weighs like 10 lbs so i have it on my lap or desk, but then my neck starts to hurt. this is really fucking up my studying

I usually just sit on my couch, since 99% of my studying is done by just reviewing powerpoint presentations on my laptop.
