I have watched hockey all my life ! Im Canadian !
Recently its been too dirty.
That wasnt to play the poc, that was to hurt.
Just to hurt the other player thats all.
Maybe if the pillar wasnt there , he wouldve been fine.
But that didnt happend, doesnt that open up your eyes.
He almost died tonight on the ice, your head going that fast into a pillar ,
I dont need to explain to you in what that results in.
And the information im stating here, is what im seeing on the news rite now.

playing hockey (at least at a small competitive level) > watching hockey your whole life.

players finish a check all the time after the puck is let go, that was just really bad luck.  Im a habs fan and i feel so bad for max but at the same time, the storm shouldnt be coming down on chara.

honestly that's not that dirty of a hit. shit like that happens all the time in hockey. had the glass not started there it wouldn't have even been a penalty. it was a late hit, yes, but he had lined it up before he passed the puck away and chara was just finishing it. shouldn't be sickening, shouldn't be bannable, it's just an unfortunate part of the boards to be hit against and it sucks that he got so fucked up by that. hope he's alright

I said the exact same thing as you did. He wanted to hit him yes, but up until they found out about the gravity of his injurie they didnt call any penalty.
This is the worst ive seen on a screen.
And why im bringing the kids up is that I have 3 cousins who go to the games with their dads all season long, they watch this, and they get inspired by their idols.
He just said it, Chara on tv. He plays hard, he plays physical, he wanted to push him but he didnt see the pole.

i disagree. when a faster skater blows by you chasing the puck, you dont give him a nudge into the turnbuckle. that wasn't even a hit. he straight up shoved him into that shit..

I'm not sure what kids being influenced has to do with it. So do you think kids are now going to go out, and make dangerous hits in hockey because of this 1 instance?

the malarchuk accident is probably the worst thing a "kid" could see during a live hockey game. that still makes me cringe to this day, i wont even click on that youtube embed.

You've watched hockey all your life? You said it 15 seconds to half.

If the pillar wasn't there, he wouldn't have been injured. Not maybe. He would've fallen on his ass.

Recently it's been too dirty? Go watch some clips from the 70's and 80's.

A lot of hockey players could care less about playing the puck. The only reason they want the puck to be around is so it's legal. Hockey is ruthless, you canadian, you should know this!

I'm not implying anything about it being a headshot. I'm trying to say that half of those hits are worse/as bad as the chara hit. The chara hit wasn't even bad in the first place.

That angle does not do it justice.
The angle shown on tv is way way worse, it clearly shows Chara pushing Pacioretty right into that bar.
Hit was fucking dirty. Now anyway whos played hockey knows how fast shit goes and sometimes you dont make the best decision. This was one of those times.

Its a terrible accident.
Chara didnt intentionally pushed him into the pillar, but it still happened.
Luckily no one died on the ice tonight

i honestly don't think chara intentionally hit him into that

when a faster skater starts to blow by you it's a classic move to nudge him into the boards so you can get a head start. i used to do it all the time. if you slam him into the boards you get called but if you nudge him slightly it just looks like a trip. chara is such a huge dude i think he got carried away and slammed him but i don't think it was an intentional hit into the turnbuckle

there're so many little things like that in hockey, like when you're trying to lift someone's stick you bring your foot around and lock it behind theirs, throwing them off balance. it's something a ref will never notice but that is blatantly dirty

what the fuck was chara thinking he could have died in front of all teh childrenz without his poc helmet. hockey is so damm violent when one player almost dies this season.... compared to, say skiing where last year alone 3 to 5 of our finest were killed or permanently injured during regular skiing. hockey is so damm violent now though, we cant have players be at risk without their god dam poc helmets

chara is a fucking pussy. lost all respect i had for him. the league has been harshly fucking up the last few years with suspensions, they better do the right thing with this one. suspended no pay till the end of the season is the only fair thing to do. sadly i would not be surprised if this ended pacioretty's career. the matt cooke hit on savard looked not even half as bad as that, and savard was never the same after that. arguably ended his career even if the actual hit he never returned from happened a season later.

The hit wasn't dirty, Chara will be punished because if they don't do anything, all the Habs fans/concerned parents will freak out, and because of the outcome of the clean hit.

i get extremely heated about things like this as the reason i am not playing hockey this year is because i was the victim of a blindside hit to the head that resulted in me waking up in an ambulance. still dont ever remember playing in the game it happened in.

if there was a regular board and no pole or anything in the way and he just completed the check, would you say it was dirty? NO he would have probably not even fallen and the play would go on. SO STOP BEING SO GOD DAMM BIASED BECAUSE THERES A POLE IN THE WAY. the rules in hockey are written clearly to avoid personal opinion. if a player finishes a hit after a pass is made, its fine. its not interference... the play is made. you guys are so god damm biased, your like little girls.

it would have been an interference (late hit) or elbowing penalty regardless. chara's interference and elbow caused the injury. the post contributed to the injury, but had chara not interfered and thrown an elbow the whole thing would not have happened. therefore chara is completely at fault. thats not personal opinion. its fact.

I'm biased towards this situation to begin with, being a habs fan, but I would have called that hit dirty no matter who was involved. the players know about the section of glass that exists between the benches and in my opinion, chara made an effort to run Paccioretty into the support post. you can clearly see him get his elbow up on paccioretty and push his head towards the bench and directly into the glass. considering the time of the hit and the score in the game, chara's actions were completely gutless and he should be suspended.
