The "correct" boot size: help me NS

Ok. So the end of last season, I bought some 2010 FT booters off a local shop. I wear shoe size 10.5 but I was wearing a 26.5 boot size at the time, so I felt it was the right time to buy some new boots.

Well, the guy was nice. He measured my foot size and it came out as 26.5. I told him I needed some bigger sized boots than what I have right now, but he insisted that i buy that size boots because buying a size bigger is a worst thing you can do to your foot (which I completely agree with). With some hesitation, I still bought the boots and was happy until this ski season.

This ski season, I got in them, and it felt O.K. It was still pretty tight, but I just guessed that the liners hadn't packed out yet. But after 1 or two more days it just felt like a bitch. I went to a boot fitter, and they told me the same thing as the guy last year, insisting that 26.5 is the right size, and it was just that my feet are fucked up so I need custom boot fitting. I did what they suggested, and hoped for a nice comfortable fit as i got into my booters the next week. To my surprise, my feet still felt as if it had been in a justin bieber concert, so I had to sell my full tilts, and concluded that it was the size that were making my foot hurt like a mother.

Now to the question:
Can buying a boot that the size is one size bigger than your actual foot affect your skiing that much?
Could I fit my boots after buying a size bigger liners so that they become smaller and fit my foot more snuggly rather than air tight? If I wear a shoe size 10.5, would 275 boot size be too big or too small?

Go try on different size boots at a boot fitter, if they're the right size they should feel good, you can get them molded to your foot after that to make them fit better.

no boot that's the right size should feel good in the shop. If they do they're too big and your feet will be swimming once they pack out. Listen to your bootfitter - having your feet move around in your boots fucking sucks and severely cuts down your skiing ability. A footbed will help for sure.

Did they say you should be in a 26.5 boot, or a 26.5 FT? Or did you just have your heart set on FT.

Why do you all have your heart's set on Full Tilts? They ski like shit, are hard to work on, and generally just suck balls.

your foot is probably the wrong shape for FTs try on some other boots. sizing up a boot that doesnt fit isnt going to help you.

Since I just remembered that most people on this site are not exactly intelligent, I will make my post simpler.

Two people who are paid to fit ski boots have told you that a 26/26.5 boot is the right size for you, and that you would need extra work to get the Full Tilt boot to work with your foot. Yet you make the decision that you should stick with the Full Tilt boot and just go up a size. At the same time you claim that your heart is not set on Full Tilt ski boots. Not only are you fucking retarded, you are confused as well.

first of all I got the extra work to get the boots fitted, and that didn't work. I've decided that my feet got bigger (cuz i'm getting taller) and the 26.5 just doesn't fit me anymore. Also, 2011 booters have bigger toe boxes that fit like technica boots (so I've heard) which is very comfortable for wide-footed, flat Asian foot like mine, so the reason that I want the full tilts is not because THEY ARE FUCKING FULL TILTS BUT they might fit my foot better (along with interchangeable flex-tongues and easy access foot entry system) You make a point that these people are paid to fit ski boots but you forget that their main purpose is to sell ski boots and their service ( i went to boulder ski deals If that helps you understand better).

I think I understand your problem, I would guess your foot is pretty wide and has probably a droped medial arch and low instep. Have you considered trying on some wider boots. The booter is full tilts wider last but why not try on some wider boots then that. Maybe try some head boots or an SPK if you are looking for a more park spefic boot. Full tilts are tough to get much wider due to the design, you would probably be better off looking for a more conventional design which would be easier to strech. And by the way I wear a size 10 shoe but wear a 26.0.

without seeing your foot, it is very possible that you are in fact a 26/26.5 but you just need to find the right shell for your foot shape. If the FT last is the correct length but not the right shape for your foot, then you will have issues. And you will have more issues when you go up a size because both aspects will be wrong.

i wear a 10.5 nike shoe but have 28.5 full tilts after sizing up from 27.5 fulltilts because they were giving me major toe bang. i have a feeling im in the wrong boot size but thats just me
