Jumps onto rails

My friend who snowboards is starting to bug the crap out of me with having to have the jump onto rails incredibly small. I can see why people would do it if they wanted to get a quick urban hit in for a movie or onto a steep urban rail but i mean always having inch high jumps onto rails? common. He always says were just being pussy cause pro snowboarders can jump onto rails without like any jumps. And he constantly insists that it is easier for him to spin onto a rail with no jump at all. I mean if you can get onto a rail with no jump thats good for you but the way you get onto the rail isnt part of the trick, except if your spinning or flippin on. Id rather have a jump that makes it wicked easy to get onto the rail so you can do spins on and get more confortable on the rail than to have a small jump and have to work your ass off just to get onto it. I think that the size of the jump makes it easier to get onto the rail, but especailly when people are like well it easier for a skier to get on the rail cause the jump is soo big....well mabey if you though for a minute about it you could also build your jump up to get onto the rail. My friend is completely satisfied with the trick with his manly 'flailing ollie' onto the rail with a half assed boardslide instead of having a smooth slide.

well, its easier to hop off flats on a snowboard than on skis. maybe if your friend had skis, hed agree with you.

but I agree with your friend, i actually don't care if you have a jump all the way up to the rail...but if you do, don't call it an 'urban' rail, because in all reality it is no better than a park rail when you have a jump all the way up to it. Having to JUMP onto the obsticle is the point of the urban scene, in my point of view, you really shouldn't have a bump at all. It is more difficult but some much more fun.

Personally i would be more scared to hit a rail that had a bump all the way up to it than having to jump on to it.

one time these stupid snowboarders kept making the jumps on rails smaller, i didnt get it. skiiers need a lip

skiers dont need a lip. Just jump higher, ive seen skiers ollie 2-3 foot 'SLOW' signs

well its not like its that hard, i can see u needing a jump if hte rails like 3 feet tall but if its only like a foot ollie and u come in from the side theres no reason for a jump

yeah, its easily possible. skiers can ollie onto rails just as high as snowboarders, because if you get your tips over it the rest will follow.

i totaly agree. i mean yea its possible and everyone can do it i suppose but i cant stand when i feel rushed getting onto a rail. what pisses me off most though is when people make a jump onto a rail but its too damn close to the rail so there is no time to pop off the jump and you have to leave early. my shitty park (song mountain if anyone knows of it) had a 'rainbow' rail set up with no lip or ride on or anything setup. i told fat derek who runs the park to fix it but he didnt so i had to. what a shitty park manager... i could go on forever about this dude but no body cares so ill end it here

slow signs are definetly fun to ollie over.

I'm sure with a soft ski you could esily ollie onto a handrail form flat, plus its not like most snowboarders don't use bumps, their just small. But they usally have a little lip to help them, plus if you have any speed at all when you pop you end up three out and the rail is only half a foot of the ground.

iv put my rail in my backyard and not built a jump once, and it was really tough to get my weight over it, but once you get used to popping and shifting ur weight foward it gets more comfortable

backyards would be tough to set up a no jump rail, at least in mine. i may try it though since i just thought of it

if all the rails i hit were 3feet tall then the smallest jump ive hit and got the rail with is about 15inches....i like them about 2 feet tall but if i spin on then i would like it really close to the same hight

im not saying i cant fucking jump on rails...iut is easy most of the time but i mean its more about the spin on and the spin off or what you pull on the rail...thats what i was trying to say...Id rather see sumbody like 450 onto a down flat down then see sum one with no jump just try to slide the rail...and im not saying that jump is like right upto the rail it would be like 1ft to 2ft tall.

actually its easier for me to jump up of the ground (or below the rail) onto rails than to ride up onto them. helps me slide better or something.

^ well not from completly flat, but you know when the season is to a close and the kicks up to the rail are melted a lot but they are still there? like jumping a foot, foot and a half up.

if think it looks better without a massive kickers up to urban rails. plus it feels really smooth iwht out one because if you have a lip you kind of slam down on the rail instead of just easing into it.

A nice urban staircase rail looks alot better with no kicker. I think its alot harder though. You just have to have speed and jump forward so you dont have to jump as high onto the rail.
