Speed checking jumps?

so i knuckled a small 15 footer today and it gave me a really bad shock in my legs but i wanna hit this huge ass 30 footer but i dont know how to tell if i have enough speed and its my first year really hiting jumps so is there a way to make sure you have enough speed to not overshoot but not knuckle either thanks +k for help

Go as fast as you fucking can and see what happens. Best to do it without a helmet. Or a shirt.

Ask someone who has hit the jump and knows the speed to follow them in.

15 feet? come on.
Speed checking is easy.
1. Hit the jump
2. Land the jump
     2.1 If you overshoot the jump, you went to fast
     2.2 If you deck the jump, you went to slow
     2.3 If you land the jump pain free, then the porridge is just the right temperature

I usually ask how the speed is when im waiting to drop in, or if others are hitting it just start where they start

Watch people or if someone is nice enough to let you follow, do that. 15 feet and even 30 feet are pretty small, so there is really not much risk involved there. When I go to a new park I will usually follow someone who is throwing down after I ask them.

At my home mountain though, I'm so comfortable with our jump lines that I can just drop in any day and hit the sweet spot. Just takes practice and you'll realize how a jump looks and how that translates to the speed and how that feels.

sometimes you can judge whether or not youd make it just by taking the speed you think you need and going next to it and over the knuckle

Better to overshoot then undershoot, 30 isn't big and if it's got a long landing you'll be good, just don't be a pussy or you'll get more hurt

Either follow someone else, or go fast. Honestly though, on a thirty footer, knuckling probably isn't gonna hurt, and neither will overshooting (to a certain degree).

Watch other people go, and ask them how many speed checks. IF they clear it well then do the same, or else this happens.
