IL Moro stiffener question

So i am trying to stiffen my il moro's and im having trouble figuring out how to insert the cuff stiffeners in the inside of the cuff, they sit in there well but they don't seem to be stiffening the boot at all.

Is there any trick to putting these in or do they just not really work very well? It seems like they just sit there loose but I can't see how else it would work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

have you switched the tongues out? I think they come with the medium stiffness ones in and you can put the stiffer ones in. They should have come with another set of tongues.

I think your talking about the boot angle pieces in the back of the boot... The tongues make the boot stiffer, not the angle wedges.

No its the stiffeners you put in the inside back of the cuff. They pretty much are worthless because they stop the boot from flexing past a certain point.

I would put the stiff tongues in but I got the boots on warranty and only have the C tongues. I would love to trade someone for B's though!

Or they are actually stiffer and you just can't flex them past that point? I have them for my rampages but I don't use them because I don't prefer them. I would go for a stiffer tongue like everyboby else says, not too sure on where to get on.

i'm pretty sure thats what those are supposed to do. I'll know next week when my boots come.

What they do is fill the gap in the lower shell that comes up around the back cuff. When you flex forward the main shell pulls together underneath the the rear cuff piece and the stiffeners allow the boot to flex until it hits the sides of the stiffener and then it just stops (because to flex further forward the shell would have to warp significantly).

I think I just need the B tongue.

Hopefully this is a good place to post this question because you guys clearly know the boot pretty well.

I tried this boot on in a store yesterday and loved it. The width is perfect for me and once its worked a little bit the instep will be perfect too (which is always a problem for me). My only problem with them is the back of the top of the boot. Its obviously a LOT higher than other boots and after 10 minutes of wearing the boot I noticed it was cramping up my calves quite badly, almost to the point of pain.

In your experience is there a way around this? Does the back of it soften up at all? Or is it just a really unusual feeling that you get used to quickly?

If you contact Dalbello 603.735.5650 they can email you pics and instructions of how to get that piece into the boot...I put them into my Il Moro T's with the soft tongue and love the setup even more now!!!

You can remove the white spoiler piece on the boot, and I guess not do the top buckle as tight. I think removing the little white piece is a good bet. here's a picture of the bots with one on and one off that I took. I'm pointing at the white part. I'm not sure what else you can do. Also, heat mold the liners, hat might help a bit.

Hopefully this works for me. Going to go back to the shop in a few days with my footbeds and sit in the boots for a good half an hour and see how they feel. I'll try taking that bit out to see if it helps.

And you probably wont even have to take them off, the screws have pulled out of the shells on both pairs I have owned haha.

I would also try the slap ratchet cuff and the power strap cuff to see which one fits your calf better.
