6 Years ago, before the hyphy term was introduced to skiing. My Cousin from Chico, CA called "getting Hyphy" when him and his friends were a little bit drunk, and a little bit stoned. This was before skiing hyphy was around.

It stems from the bay area(san francisco) rappers.

There is a whole genre here in SF that I don't follow because I'm white and I listen to hipster music/dubstep.

They also reference the number 18 a lot in their songs?

I really don't know much else about it because the majority of it is just absolute trash.  Which is why you're probably wanting to listen to it.

Oh and its spelled Grammar....
