Super rocker. Only real men ski on skis that have rocker in the rocker. As well as horizontal rocker. When I say roll the ski on edge, I mean roll.

it's the new 3-D downward vertical undulation in the edge combined with a convex base. Hope that helps

Yeah, was on tgr looking at these. Soooo nuts. The "dent" looking thing is what they are calling a "cleat". It's to help the ski on firmer snow. Yeah, convex bases are nuts.

I knew convex bases would come some day..but I was always thinking about how to make it work and how to get grip on harder snow..

DPS did it I guess.. They dont bring out something after long testing..

and what do you think everyone said of the first rockered skis? I'm sure it looked just as silly then. Major industry shifts in only 5ish years

and I agree, this frankenski reminds me a bit of a dropped longboard, like maybe a landyachtz dropspeed. If you think about the tech though, it makes sense. The same individual point contacts work for Lib tech boards, so I have to assume that they would for DPS as well. I'd be curious to try, but I'm sure that construction is pricy.

No, rockered skis just simply made sense for powder. The first time I saw a reverse camber ski it was a realization. Back in they day we use to demo spatulas on the reg. I wish I had sacked up and bought a pair.

Those dps skis are just simply what the fuck, looks like a dumb idea just like the libtech skis.

It looks great to me, a convex base so that the ski doesn't dive in pow and the cleat for firmer snow.

well if they're in powder i think most shapes will be better off. but on groomers and whatnot i wonder how it works.

that looks interesting and probably works pretty well for what it is supposed to do. obviously it would not be a park ski but it would make rails a blast. you couldn't catch an edge except the spoon park which could give better grip when scissoring. my question for DPS though... how are you supposed to wax this thing? a normal iron, scraper and brush wouldn't ever work.

You know how I know you're not from Tahoe/the PNW? LOL at people asking how this is going to ski on groomers.


Saw these at SIA and they look SO sick. They're surprisingly light too. DPS always innovating ahead of the game.

yup, you are right, the pure is super duper lightweight and is actually thinner than a standard ski. The hybrid does have some carbon fiber in it (stringers).

For the $1200 price, yeah its pricey, but it is the ultimate ski. IT will not tire down on you or fatigue over time. A pair of the lotus 138 pures is in fact lighter than my park skis.... crazy.

my local shops sells dps i will have to check these out if they are already not and for any thing but blower powder in like bc or where ever copius amounts of blower powder is these skis would be tight

Whenever you lay a flat based ski on edge in dee powder, there's a point where, no matter the width and the rocker, it will lose float because you no longer have enough width under you. These are designed to allow you to "carve" and lay them completely over on edge, racer style, but in bottomless white gold. Seems like a great idea to me, as you retain the surface area of the base that's flat against the snow at all points in a turn, rather than just when you're going straight. Can't wait to try some!

you have a very large hole in your education.

that point is 90 degrees.

of course you cant actually lay down at 90 degrees because you would have to be going really really fast, so this ski would float very marginally better at say 75 degrees (firstly, because the angle isnt very extreme, secondly, because if you are laying down at 75 degrees off vertical, your skis arent under you, the more force the skis have directly up on them, the more you fall down.) , but it wouldnt make that much of a difference, and anyways, i want to go down as i compress and pop out of my turns, not skitter across the snow like a kid on a garbage lid.

ski innovation is good, it lets people stumble upon great ideas that make skiing more fun and easier, but forced "innovations" like these just aren't very helpful.

wtf are you talking about. how is this design NOT helpful? it's a creative prototype that pushes the progression of ski design. have you ever seen this ski in person? Because I have. It's solely for the deepest of pow days and from the looks of it when i saw it at the SIA convention, it's going to be an incredibly fun ski in deep snow but would suck balls on anything else. But that's not what it's desgined for. It's pretty much a Tahoe/PNW only and deepest of deep for Utah/BC/CO days.
