Alright homies I just picked up a pair of 2010 Surface watch lifes and heres my thoughts...i thought some one should find this helpful since I definitely had a hard time finding down to earth reviews of the ski before I dropped green on it. So heres whats up...
I came off of some rossi scratch sprayer fs 174 and I am hella glad I did. These surface skis are so light its amazing. They are way lighter than my old sprayers (which are a LOT smaller ski). I have done about 50 hours of skiing on them and their construction seems strong except for the topsheet. Surface seems to have a rep for easy going top sheet and this is definitely the case. But who cares anyway a ski is meant to be used. And some chipping isnt going to stop me from riding my skis as hard as I can.
Graphics- simple but dope
Flex- medium to firm flex but still gives a lot of pop. I found this flex to be perfect since it enables the ski to hold up at higher speeds on maybe some not-so-ideal hardpack snow.
Pow Performance- AMAZING. They float so well with the 100 underfoot, yet it is not so overly wide that they arent playful. They turn soooo smoothly and have really good feedback in the deep snow.
Park- So far these skis have held up perfectly...like i said they are fairly stiff but not that bad. I can still jib and grind without feeling like im on a 2x4 or something. If you are skiing all park then I say look for something else. But that said these skis are great if you do any pow or all mountain and still wanna hit the park. They can handle it.
So in a nutshell these skis are pretty sweet. They can handle any part of the mountain very well. I mounted mine -2 and am glad I did because if they were any closer to center I feel like they wouldn't handle the hard pack snow quite as well. But i feel like a good skier should be able to adjust to the mounting on their ski so if you do hit the park over 60 percent and want to mount center go ahead. You will still be able to handle the pow and rest of the mount by adjusting your weight/stance accordingly. This is of course all my opinion but I have been skiing all my life and thought I would throw out some reference for these skis. I dropped 299 on them and am very happy I did, I think for that buck you are hard pressed to find such a versatile ski. Post up if any one has any questions ill be happy to help.
