Hey guys,

Decided to put together this tutorial for using Final Cut with GoPro or DSLR footage. Talks about transcoding, frame-rate changes, sequence settings, and exporting. Share it around, check out whatever part you need to learn about! It's long!

have a body who has fcp serials and the whole studio on discs. it supper legit, got mine for 150. i think he has three more sets he is trying to give rid off. hit me up and i can get you in contact with him for details has pics of the whole thing installing. or if your in tahoe reno area i can get it right into your hands.

This is a fast tutorial to make you use GoPro HD cameras footages in Apple/mac(FCP/FCE/iMovie) for editing without any transferring issues.

So you’ve shot a bunch of footage on your GoPro or DSLR camera...now what? Since the H.264 file format used in camera is not designed for editing, you should convert your files into the GoPro file format. This format was specifically designed for editing and is compatible with most popular non-linear editing applications (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, AVID, Vegas, etc.).

So you’ve shot a bunch of footage on your GoPro or DSLR camera...now what? Since the H.264 file format used in camera is not designed for editing, you should convert your files into the GoPro file format. This format was specifically designed for editing and is compatible with most popular non-linear editing applications (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, AVID, Vegas, etc.).


First you need to download Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac, a powerful high-quality video converter, player and editor. If you are editing with Final Cut Pro (FCP), chances are you already installed this great free utility. If not, download it it from here.

So, what does the workflow look like?

Step 1: After you set up the above recommended program on you mac, run it quickly, then load your 1080 60p MP4 files from your camera.

Step 2. Click the format bar, and move mouse cursor to “Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” as output format. If you are using Adobe premiere pro for editing, you can choose to click the Format box; select Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas> MPEG-2(*.mpg) as the best video format for Premiere Pro.

Step 3. Tap the Convert button; it will start to convert GoPro MP4 video to ProRes 422 MOV supported format with best settings.

After the conversion, you can successfully copy GoPro Hero3 MP4 clips into Final Cut Pro on Mac and edit GoPro Hero3 MP4 in FCP smoothly without lag or any other problem.
