I would be very OK with this happening. Steve Carrel is gettin a little old honestly. His character is just getting out of hand. Plus that dude is hilarious, did anyone see him on Conan the other night?

just make sure, you are aware that the office was originally a UK tv show, aren't you? from what i have seen of the American version it was also far less funny than the UK version but no offence, most Americans don't understand British comedy...

its true, I love the US office its one of my favorite shows so i figured why wouldnt i like the original?

I hated it. I hated their voices and I hated their jokes and i especially hated the british version of dwight...i really just couldnt get behind the show for some reason

That being said I do think gervais is a funny bastard, although i do love carrell as michael scott..its a shame hes gone after 7 seasons

This would be awful. The comedy in the UK Office is built up through the awkwardness, tension and dourness of the interactions. This would not work with the gag-based slapstick comedy of the US Office, where each joke is set up, so that it is obvious it is a joke.

Example: Steve Carrell's 'that's what she said' line is supposed to be funny because he made an innuendo, and the American audience finds innuendo funny. Ricky Gervais's innuendo is funny not because the innuendo itself has any comedic merit, but because it demonstrates a laughable level of self-delusion, inappropriateness and social awkwardness

No chance this will happen. Gervais has made it pretty obvious several times that he thinks its stupid how the US version has dragged on for so long.

I just watched S.1 Ep. 4 "Training" again today at it might be my favorite piece of television comedy ever. It's just perfect in every single way.

Im ok with this. As said before, steve carell's character was straight up too ridiculous in the last season or 2. The show was losing it. Hopefully this can bring it back a little bit.
