in chemestry...
you use log to find out the PH of a substance when you are given the molarity...

The best example that I can think of is analyzing data.  In many cases a parameter will increase exponentially.  Using a log scale can make the trend line a polynomial.

Thats just one example.  There are many uses for logs.

A sample of rain water has a pH of 5.50 and lemon juice has a pH of 3.50...
how many times more acidic or basic is the lemon juice then the rain water.

pH= -log[H+]

10^5.50= H+
10^3.50=H+

you get what im sayin?

Logs are a fundamental part of calculus. Calculus is used in pretty much everything...

the richter scale (for earthquakes) is a logarithmic scale, same with pH. there are other ones but i dont remember em

Dude yeah, I feel bad for people that only care about math if it is used for something "in real life." Math is probably the single most unifying subject in our universe.

Natural logarithms are the basis for differential equations which can be used to model data collected from the real world. Those models can then be used to make predictions about the future or the past.
