Gouges in ski boot toe piece.

I have these two diagonal gouges in the toe of my ski boot. I'm riding bindings that I need to replace because theyre junior bindings and I'm wayyyy out of the weight limit.. And I just ordered new skis/bindings. But I won't get them for another week and I'm worried that if I keep skiing on these bindings then I'll ruin my boots. Help?

I would be more worried about your boots finishing off your binding. Binding problems are a bitch.

My friend's almost ripped out at the start of the day. So instead of paying 30 bucks to get them redrilled, he just screwed them in better and kept skiing.

But really, the worst that your bindings could do to your boots are scratch them. They aren't going to take out giant gouges unless you have a really really crappy boot.

Okay good. I have some fairly nice dalbello boots, and I don't care about the bindings they're gonna be gone in a matter if days.. They're only scratches now and I was just worried it could turn into something bigger.

false. i work in a shop and the other day someone brought in a setup that he bought used. he didnt understand that not every boot fits every binding how its mounted. for several weeks he skied on a ski set for a size 29 boot with a size 27 boot. the excess room and movement in the binding tore the heels of his boots to shit.

OP i recommend you stop skiing on those bindings. if not for your boots' sake, do it for your own safety. imagine sending a jump only to have your binding explode(yes, theres a spring under tension in there, they can explode when they break). i guarantee you are not going to land that trick when that happens

it sucks having to replace equipment thats not quite broken, i feel your pain. best of luck man!

I had the bindings adjusted for the boots though... They were new boots for those bindings and I hadthem fit it right. But the ski shop has messed up my din level twice before. Ignored my skiing on a bad ski this year. And now this. So I've completely lost faith in that ski shop and wouldn't be surprised if they mounted the binding wrong

im just saying that it is possible for a binding to damage a boot.

also. theres an industry standard for the part of a boot that fits in the bindings. the width, the shape of the toe, the heel, etc.

however the industry standard for a kids boot differs from an adult boot. i would be concerned about using an adult boot in a junior binding for the same issue of wearing away at the boot due to improper contact on top of the toe and heel.

im not the best source of info, but i hope what i had to say inspires you to more seriously seek out the information you need

Yeah thanks, you've helped a lot. I've decided that I just won't go skiing until I get my new set up.. It's only a week, I have to wait longer then that over the summer.
