So I've looked into this a bit and I'm kind of paranoid. I just ordered a set of Surface 9 Lives from evo and after ordering I saw all these stories about crazy cracking and edge damage from minimal use. They're supposed to be in tomorrow, I can either mount 'em up and hope for the best or return them in the box and get something else. Any ideas?
This is a very good question. I got my Surface Nine Lifes in early October from Evo. Shredded a little pre season at Boreal and then a couple weekends up until this point.
On Monday (3 days ago) I was hucking some booter with my friends and I landed on the tails weird and the right tail bent up making about a 30 degree rocker (similiar to Big_Spence's picture). It delaminated and basically just sucked to say the least haha.
Drove back to the house and called up Evo; who referred me straight to Surface. Got a super legit guy named Justin on the phone who said there have been problems with this a lot.
The VERY SAME DAY there were 2011 No-Times shipped to me without sending back the broken skis for proof (sending them when I get the new ones obviously).
The new skis actually just came a couple hours ago and I took them to get mounted...amazed with the service.
If you decided to keep the skis don't be surprised when they start to fall apart. Surface says that they have fixed this problem with the 2011's though.
Goodluck!
Wow, that's sick that they've really stepped up there customer service this year, I imagine that's gonna make a lot of kids on NS quite joyous. But it depends, I feel like there are some good batches which will last you a while and others that will break on the spot. I've been skiing close to 12 days this season shredding park all day, and I have minimal topsheet chipping and no edge cracks... So, hopefully you get a good pair
