A question of ethics

if you capture a terrorist, who is involved in a plot to attack schools across america, what do you think is ethical to do to the terrorist so that he reveals details of the plot that would allow you to stop it?

i.e. is it ethical to torture a terrorist to save hundreds of lives?

This. The thing is, we put the face of the scary muslim man on the label of terrorism. We scare the shit out of people by putting the word terrorism and scary terrorists plots in the news all day everyday. The people don't associate with these muslim men, and they sure as hell are scared of getting blown up. They support the legislation like the patriot act, I mean hell, It sounds like a great thing. I mean who actually reads anything contained in legislation these days? Half the time the people signing them don't even read it.


Now we have a secretive government, no longer a government by the people for the people, and they have absolute power over us. The fact that they can label anyone a terrorist, deport them, hold them indefinitely without a trial in some foreign country, not even have to tell anyone they took them... that's kind of fucked up. And to the people say well that could never happen, our government is good. Open a history book. Governments are inherently evil. It is the people job to keep the government in check, not the other way around. We let the government have too much power, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I agree 100%.

Unfortunately, many people see our Constitution as a document that can used or ignored based on ones objectives and goals. Torture is straight up unethical and I am ashamed that the US government uses these tactics in contemporary society.

theres torture,,, and then there is TORTURE.

waterboarding is nothing compared to some of the torture that goes on in this world.

look at medieval times what they did back then makes waterboarding look like a slap on the wrist

i dont think in my question i said that you know 100% that u can get answers through torture. what would you do if you knew he had answers, but there is no guaranty that toture will work
