My Dad's running for Montana senator! Check it

This is somewhat of a repost as my little brother posted a thread to "like" my Dad on Facebook. But my Dad officially announced he's running back in November. I'm super stoked along with the rest of the fam.

Also, if you disagree with where he stands politically you don't need to post in this thread saying where you stand politically by saying something to the effect of "Oh, I'm definitely NOT liking your dad on Facebook because..." I understand people have differing views on politics and I respect them for that but for this thread if you disagree just simply keep it to yourself. Thanks NS!

Is he running against Tester or Baucus? I'm assuming Tester, since his first term is up in 2 years...

That said... I hope hey doesnt take out Tester. Tester's done a LOT of good things for Montana at the state level from what I know, and he's just getting his feet wet at the Washington level.

If your dad's waiting 4 years to take on Baucus though... sheesh... That's kinda nuts.

Your dad sounds like he has done a kick-ass job with his business, which is very good. That is definitely a positive influence and an enticement for voting for him.

However, he takes a very simplistic and typical response on most political issues. My best advice is to ignore the absolutely cliche talking points, quoting founding fathers, and repetitive small government talk. Instead of saying we need small government, have him show he's done his research. Say what programs he would cut and which he feels are important in the government.

For example: "we should implement a health care system that actually improves quality of health"

How does he expect to do that? He doesn't mention anything other than being against Obamacare. He says he wants to change Washington, so he should start by coming up with a solution instead of critiquing to get ahead like what's going on with democrats and republicans now.

I am also not sure he understands the implications of international economics on our domestic economy. I could be wrong, but he doesn't show anything on his website about how trade affects Montana, etc and what he would do to help that policy wise or not.

Just some suggestions, hopefully they help him out.
