Bent pole

so recently i fell on one of my poles and it now resembles a racing pole....should i try and bend it back or will that risk breaking it?

Give it a shot, either way its toast. The aluminum will be stressed further when you bend it back. It very well may just snap on you.

whatever you do, don't bend it back when it is cold. then it would be guaranteed to snap. try heating it up first.

if its a huge problem, just saw off the two parts that are bent, then you will end up with two straight piece, then just stick a wodden dow inside it with a little duct tape on it to keep it snug. Then put the two pieces together..
you'll be golden after that.

hopefully that makes sense.

this. i bent mine once and i put it on the heater in my hotel room and then bent it back

Warranty it.


I use graphite poles (despite some peoples thoughts on them). I do however, have jib poles that are aluminum, when I bend them, I hit them against something else. It's not perfectly straight, but it adds character. Chicks love character

With no offense to OP, since he's asking how to fix a bent pole. Kids be bitchin about damage they cause on their gear, and how companies aren't warranting it.

I know you weren't. I should have reworded it. That's why I said no offense, I should have cancelled you out. I'm here to help, not bitch. haha.

If your ski pole seems to be showing fatigue, I wouldn't mess with it. There is a good chance it could snap on you if you try to bend it back. If it isn't showing fatigue, try slowing bending it back over something, like wood or your leg. Slowly apply the pressure so you can make sure that you're bending it back the right way. No matter what happens, there will be a bow in it.

Maybe take a heat gun or blowtorch and heat it up EVER SO SLIGHTLY, do't melt it, just enough to make the aluminum a bit more pliable, and slowly, evenly bend it back. This will weaken the pole, really it's going to break sooner or later anyways.

just leave it the way it is, or take a powrun underneath a lift and pick up a dropped ski-pole that's about the same size as yours ... (last year in france we had a 6seater and from the bottom to top i could count 28 dropped skipoles ....)
