Well so theres this little thing going on in the world which all of you have probably heard about. What do you think abouth what wikileaks are doing, is it correct that he should be arrested and is it dangerous for people? just write done what you think about wiki leaks

The website publishes documents it receives to the whole world. If you have problems with it, you have problems with one of the purest forms of media. If you dont want your dirty laundry broadcasted, either A)Lock it up better next time or B)Dont write that shit down.

Everyone seems to be focused on the founder of Wikileaks, when the only one I see culpable in any of this is the person(s) who originally obtained and sent all of this stuff over the Wikileaks.

Assange is simply the middle man. The broadcaster in a system of constant cable inputs from hackers and interceptors around the world. The only reason he's being scape-goated is because he's the only one of them they can FIND. The fact that they're going after him (and really, will that stop the newsfeeds?) shows they're desperate for someone, and they're willing to take what they can get.

I can't believe he's being framed for rape. I heard on NPR that even the Swedes admitted the overblown rape charges were politically driven. They're hoping to extradite him to the US to be tried as a terrorist, which is why he's on Interpol's top 10 most wanted....for sexual crimes. Since when have you seen a suspected rapist in the top 10 FBI's most wanted? lol. Everyone something to hide and it is scaring the shit out of the entire world that someone might expose their bullshit; "dirty laundry" as Rowen so eloquently put it.

Have any of you actually heard Julian talk? I bet 90% of you didn't even know what wikileaks was before this recent episode.

He's for freedom of speech and freedom of information. Isn't that what our country is supposedly all about? Oh wait, that doesn't fit the current status quo of the elites lying out their asses for a pretty penny and us accepting it without question. Oh wait, that's what he's exposing with the freedom of speech and freedom of information...

My opinion? The government didn't do shit about older leaks he let out that were equally important. Now, suddenly, when governments are trying to push for internet censorship, this suddenly makes the mainstream? Mainstream media was afraid to touch wikileaks for years. They won't cover other similar information/sites about classified information because they don't want to use "stolen property", but all the sudden the media is willing to plaster this "stolen property" all over the headlines? Something's wrong here...

with the number of references various people make about 1984 whenever government and power comes up, I'm forced to wonder if any of them have ever even read it.


by the way, assange turned himself in today in london. Good move because if he's got nothing to hide...then why not? Bad move because they will give him something he didn't even know he was hiding, and no one will ever know...

It is people like you who just blindly follow the government's order when they label people as terrorists.

Just because someone is exposing the government's dirty laundry doesn't make them a conspiracy theorist. I don't know if you have even attempted to research Wikileaks but none of the information that has been released has been made up or even assumed to be true. It is all from inside sources within the government, leaks!

Wikileaks is just a middle man that people can release their leaks through and Julian Assange is the "lightning rod" that takes all the heat and pressure from governments all over the world. He is a ballsy motherfucker and for anyone to believe that having Assange in jail, which he is now, will stop Wikileaks from doing what they are doing is downright ignorant.

Are you posting this from the fallout shelter under your parents' basement? The government doesn't just go around calling people terrorists. Assange is a rapist and a criminal that puts American lives in danger. I've heard he has ties with Al'Qaeda from inside sources.

Ugh I am not even going to bother arguing with you. You are too caught up in your own ignorance to accept the fact that maybe your precious government isn't as perfect as you believe it to be.

Also...would be amazing if you found some evidence or some source that shows Wikileaks has put American lives in danger. A death or anything caused by Wikileaks. Speculation doesn't count. Just because it may put American lives "in danger" doesn't mean it does or will.

And ties with Al'Qaeda...are you serious? You people will believe anything Fox news tells you.

PS. Way to assume I am a conspiracy nut just because I support Wikileaks. The news sure is doing their job correctly. Carry on sheeple.

its the blatant facts of the matter, not a conspiracy theory. one guy is standing up to the fat cat assholes who run the show all of a sudden is accused of rape and has INTERPOL after him and the almighty terrorist name tag is deemed upon him. thats a great way to set precedent for someone standing up for human rights and freedom on speech. unfortunately its a classic scenario of the past few centuries really.

there's a difference from a conspiracy THEORY (which doesn't have solid evidence but is interesting to research nonetheless) to conspiracy to hide the truth (which has factual evidence to back it up).

   but you have to agree this transpearasy or public release with foregin relations in not in the best of intrest of a civilization. Regarding any sort of trade, or public image with other countries. I mean in this its gunna reck the Americans sense of authority and solidit. This is not in are best intrest.

      I'm just saying that from a Grand Perspective stand point. This really only makes things worse in regards to public relations in the middle east, or really anywhere. Its not like the President, Senators or really any members... of government are going with hold something that's not in their own best interests. Consequently these very people will benefit most when the country is doing well. Therefore when a bunch of secret documents are released grandly its not good for a civilization. If only Canadians had access to these documents everything would be fine. Its the huge impact it has on the Image of solidity and strength of the Americans. We are tied by near degree of a life line to the US. Its awesome to know and super interesting. But in no way dose it have a positive impact on are economy. Which by the way is far from great.

I pulled this from wikipedia, The last part is the most important. There is information that in the wrong hands can hurt us as a nation. Also the people who gather that information are put in harms way. Maybe you would understand this way. your friend tells you a secret about someone that they shouldnt of told you. You go back to that person and say "hey guess what I heard about you." The person now knows that the original friend broke their trust and might want to beat the shit out of them. thats how it harms people.

The desired degree of secrecy about such information is known as its sensitivity. Sensitivity is based upon a calculation of the damage to national security that the release of the information would cause. The United States has three levels of classification: confidential, secret, and top secret. Each level of classification indicates an increasing degree of sensitivity. Thus, if one holds a top-secret security clearance, one is allowed to handle information up to the level of top secret, including secret and confidential information. If one holds a secret clearance, one may not then handle top-secret information, but may handle secret and confidential classified information.

By law, information may not be classified merely because it would be embarrassing or to cover illegal activity; information may only be classified to protect national-security objectives.

what about reports about places around the world and in the US that are considered at risk targets for terrorism. Granted some of them might already be on the radar of extremist groups but what about the other ones that weren't? don't get me wrong, If a document has been declassified then there is no problems with releasing it to the public but to share classified and secret information is just wrong.

I remember him turning in some army pfc for submitting super sensitive material to Wikileaks. Julian Assange seems to be a stand up guy, he did the right thing in telling the US government about that one.
