should i wear anything heavy considering its not insulated or anything, or doesnt have anything heavy in insulation? would i be able to get away with just a long sleeve shirt in like 15 degree(fahrenheit) weather? or would i need to wear a t shirt, long underwear on top, and a sweater... sorry if this is stupid, if you have a problem with this thread then leave i just need a straight answer. and same with pants. would long underwear and thats it be okay?

it's totally based on how you feel temperatures. everyone is different so dress so you are comfortable.

if you generally feel cold then invest in some base layers from under armour or craft. they have some nice choices of tech base layers that you can throw on under a tall t or a crewneck and be warm and unrestricted as far as movement.

Thick doesnt mean warm. Lots of thin layers mean warm.

Generally you want to have something like this:

Long sleeved wicking tech fabric (Underarmor etc)
T shirt/Polo neck long sleeve top
Thicker fleece
Shell

That should be enough for deep winter. For warmer conditions just take out the polo neck and keep the fleece. Make sure the fleece you get is tech so it breathes properly and keeps you warm as well, obviously.

Its totally dependent on the person. If you really feel the cold then you should layer up if not then you can sometimes get away with less. And it is easier to go stash a layer or two in the lodge or in a tree then it is to magically find one to keep you warm when you're cold.

My suggestion prepare so that you know you will be conformable. Not hope that you will be comfortable

under armour is so unbelievably clutch. get some nice cold gear "spandex" pants and a longsleeve shirt. cut some longjohn pants so that they don't end up in your boot and wear those on top of the under armour and you'll be toasty. over the under armour you could probably get away with a t-shirt and a hoodie, i again would recommend an under armour hoodie or something of that sort

i just wear neoprene longjohns, and a "buttersilk" mountain hardwear longsleve shirt thing that is increidible. and i wore just that under a shell on a day that was right around 0 degrees, but it also depends on the quality of the shell. you could wear a gore-tex shell with well taped seams in anything, and it also depends on how easily you get cold.
