I know a guy who went to see both The Mummy and The Mummy Returns over 20 times each. I mean...it wasn't exactly a masterpiece.

my favorite part was the chase scene through the woods, the cinematography was pretty sick. the camera flying through the trees, shit was dope.
when is part 2 coming out?
also they could have combined the 2 parts in one long ass movie, that would have been better, imo.

I think that splitting it was a good idea, because it means more money, more anticipation, and they can have it follow along with the book almost exactly without cutting corners

an unfathomable amount. JK Rowling got it right by having it be 7 books. I'm sure if they could go back, they'd have made 2 films for each book. They'd be able to remain "more true to the book" which would please fans, and they'd be making 14 goddamn movies. I almost think that when it ends, she's going to write another few books and make a few more movies...just for the hell of it.


I saw it the other day, and my only issue was....at which point did the ministry of magic become the nazi party? Seriously. Similar looking uniforms, searching for "pure blood" and goddamnit, they even wear red armbands.

well, that was cause the deatheaters took over the ministry and the deatheaters hate non pure-bloods and shit. but i agree, the nazi-esqueness is a little heavy sometimes. oh well

I think they did the right thing in splitting it. The second part is definitely gonna be just as long if not longer. They still have to find all the other horcruxes (breaking into the bank with the drangon) along with the final battle and harry dying. It will probably be like 3 hours.

no I mean a lot of good vs evil stories are obviously like that, but this is excessive. They basically made the ministry guards the nazi brownshirts, only in the movie, they wore grey. Everything else, down the HAT they each wear is exactly similar to the nazi uniform.

Well if you think about it, the practices of the Ministry with relation to finding and imprisoning mudbloods is very similar to what the nazi's did with relation to Jews. When I read the book, I made this connection myself, so it's obvious why the movie portrayed that scene the way they did, as it encompasses many of the same elements as nazi's did.

Not with inflation, no movie will ever beat gone with the wind...I think it'll get close without inflation. But...largest opening weekend I think, Dark Knight holds it currently but I think it will take the cake.


As far as the movie, I was amazed at how good it was. Watching all the other ones the movies sucked, not thinking about the books the movies just were straight up bad, but this was actually a good movie.

ive seen it 3 times. twice in regular theaters and once in IMAX. Def go see it in IMAX. so worth it. by far the best harry potter movie.

lets not forget inflation... it plays a huge part. the highest grossing movie of all time adjusted for inflation was actually from 1939.

I hate to be the Harry Potter nerd, but JK Rowling stated that the Death Eaters were birthed conceptually on the Nazi Party. She also alluded in interviews that in the Harry Potter world, Grindelwald (Dumbledore's old butt buddy) was responsible for the Halocaust. I'm on my phone so I can't cite any of this, but it's somewhere on the Internet...
