What's with all the hype for Ahmet in Eye Trip for?

Srsly All I heard was OMG his part was soo fucking sick. After I watched it I was like Meh.

The whole segment was just a repeat of rodeo, strait air, 360, 180. Even I am more than capable of those tricks. The only trick worth while was his S-rail shenanigans.

Don't even get me started on his style. His powder turns with his steezed out unzipped jacket reminded me of MFM so much that I almost threw up. Next step is cruzing powder in a wife beater.

the dude's nasty at snowboarding. literally everything else ive heard/seen him do has been absolutely retarded, and he acts like a little shithead 8th grader tough guy.

anyway... i havent seen eyetrip yet but this thread is going to be (well..is) a shitstorm of people and orange names flipping their shit over an opinion. don't take it so personal!!

why would you knock the Godfather, Mike Douglas? That's a poor choice of a way to insult someone about knowledge of skiing. Seriously, WTF?

Ahmet's segment is a product of hard work and it was very good... but I agree with OP in that it's been overhyped on NS and that riding with your jacket open is lame.

Eye Trip shares the top of my favorites from this year, next to The Way I See It. But it's more for the editing and creative pow shots than urban.

wasnt expecting this much hate its just my opinion. His segment could have been alot better with a couple of doubles imo. And seriously their wasn't even a triple in the whole movie what a fucking let down.

You got me. I do think his style reminds me of MFM and that is in no way an insult as long as his attitude is not the same too. I really got some people going though and it cost me almost 1000 karma ohhh nooos

Thought Ahmet had a great seggy, but suprised people weren't happy with Wallisch.  Wallisch 270 disastered that DFD that Ahmet 5050'd, also the 450 on dub kink pretz 27 out definitly set the bar as the best urban trick ever, like no one 450 ons urban rails, and this was a long dub kink and he got pretz 2 out of that.  And then Wallisch's dub cork on the sun valley jump...cmon that was amazing.

i agree i thought both were good. wallisch had some crazy tricks but woulda liked to see a dub 12 with a grab other than a perfect mute (still super sick but he does them flawlessly every time) the sausage sw 7 was money and would like to see that put into a dub.

as for ahmet real sick seggy but i have to agree about the open jacket in the bc, that just looks miserable n doesnt serve much of a point. still really sick tho and no hate intended

Its not a video game man, don't think you understand how hard it is to learn a different grab for a trick, especially when he's doin probably the biggest dub 12 ever.

And you realize how dumb you sound (same for everyone else) who is complaining about Ahmet's 'jacket style', who gives a fuck he probably got too warm and unzipped his jacket...why are you judging how he wears his jacket and not being dumbfounded at how good of a skier is..I mean cmon this guy put out one of the best seggys on one of the best movies of the year and all NS has to say is 'you shoulda had your jacket zipped'

im surprised everyone thinks of the double and 450 as the most technical tricks in wallisch's segment. I thought the sw right 7 to left 9 on that snowbox was far more impressive

Let me guess.. your idea segment would have tons of doubles on park/stock BC jumps, and a dance off of switch ups on handrails to "round things out". Ya Ahmet doesn't have that so I'm gonna put that segment in the mediocre category as well.

I feel you that Wallisch had impressive shots, but I don't really know why you're comparing the two. You don't think Ahmet could have done that 270 disaster? I do. And, personally, I thought the 50-50 looked better and was just generally more creative.

Huh....just reread your post and now I'm not sure that you weren't just mentioning Ahmet's trick to clarify which setup you were talking about. But, either way, I'll take that 50-50 any day over all but the most sketchy and consequential of urban 2 ons....who is filming urban at a pro level that can't 270 on to damn near anything possible to slide? More spinning on, off, or while on a rail, is not in and of itself progression.

i just rewatched his seg, just to make sure that if i commented on this, it would be fresh from memory.

ahmet's seg in eye trip was so dope. tricks were sick on super technical and difficult (looking, i didnt hit them) spots. yeah the no goggles in the bc was a little off, but thats his style and he stomped the shit outta everything he hit, with mad style too. and whoever said they saw him take some nasty falls and get up again was right on, he got destroyed on some of those features but came back to own them.

ahmet's part...crazy improvement from last year...so sick.

I say it's Gripping and jumping/pushing harder. But yeah, seriously you're right. The problem though is that it seems, to a large majority, that's the only means of progression and it makes for unoriginal and uninspired skiing. I'm not saying there's some arbitrary "cap" to "acceptably cool degrees of spin per trick" or anything, just that it's the most obvious thing and I respect shit that's progressive in a larger sense. Like run on sentences and fragmental prose.

I'm stoned, just reread what I typed... 10 minutes ago now, and decided it's time to sign out.

That one obviously flew way over your head. Douglas announces the X-Games, an event nationally televised on ESPN. It's not a small open comp streamed on NS. He uses generic gaper terms so the average idiot watching the temporary tornado show can try to comprehend what the fuck is actually going on.

He wasn't insulting Douglas's credibility or knowledge of the sport.

So much hate, watched eye trip last night on blue ray and his segment def lived up to the hype. Sick song + sick skiing = banger seg. I def think wallsich's seg isn't getting nearly enough credit, I think it was the best seg in the movie.
