Parents and College

Im a Junior in HS and my parents want me to start looking at colleges and i live in Northern Indianan= Flat and i want to go to college somewhere out west and they think all out of state colleges are way to much money i have a 3.4 and a 3.6 weighted.I want to major in Telecommunications(computer networking). what would be some good colleges in Colorado?

ya, thats is going to be incredibly expensive. A 3.4 is not that good, but i suppose if you really work hard for scholarships and go to a cheaper school that you could make it happen.

I mean i dont wanna go to a prestigious college just a small cheaper college that offers what i want to major in and is close to good skiing

get a job and get residency, otherwise you're looking at over 32k a year just in tuition at a CU.

Only college that I know is somewhat reasonable $ out west is U of U, from what I've heard anywhere in CO costs an arm and a leg for out of state.

try U of Utah, stay a full year and you can pay instate. i think that could work, but i dont really know what UT requires for someone to be considered a full time resident. good luck

Best bet would be to get out of the States then on average tuition will be more expensive especially for out of state stuff, I'm pretty sure UBC has good pricing for international students

this, canadian schools are generally much cheaper even for internationals, also check out UBC Okanagan (smaller than the vancouver campus, easier to get in to, and located in the mountains) and simon fraser university

look at private colleges as well.

wont be as cheap, but if you get an sizable scholarships they will be cheaper than paying out of state tuition at a state school.

go to U of U, pay your first year in full, gain residency, finish the next several years cheaper than community college.

Colorado State? don't know much about it but it's definitely less prestigious than UC-Boulder. might be easier to get in/get financial aid there. and its up in the mountains

you should definitely be able to get in any colorado school other than colorado college with a 3.4 gpa.

Don't not apply somewhere just because you think you can't get in or can't afford it. Just apply to schools that interest you and where you think you really want to go and see what happens. You might get scholarships or qualify for financial aid. There's a ton of options just don't get discouraged.

come to csu. yes it is farther from skiing than boulder but it all depends on what kind of city you like. i personally love fort collins over boulder.

Yeah man. Check out MSU Bozeman. Way closer to skiing and it's cheaper than Colorado.

telecommunications and computer networking are completely different fields. generally, telecom is a graduate focus of electrical engineering. computer networking is a focus of computer science. that being said, telecom is way harder but also way cooler
