So heres the case:
Last spring during finals time I awake to find no bike (united trinity, all odyssey/fit/stolen components) outside my room where it should be. My house was kind of a slum and we rarely locked doors so I figured it got nabbed by some hood rat from the north end. I was disappointed, but blamed myself for not locking the doors to my house and didn't file a police report because what cop gives a fuck about a 20 inch bike.
Flash forward to about 5 hours ago...my friend gives me a call and hes at my landlords house. My beautiful bicycle is in this dudes garage in pieces about 15 minutes drive away from my old home. He grabbed all my shit and peaced outta there real quick.
Should I fuck with this guy? If so how?
Should I take legal action? If so how?

it fine, just disassembled. i dunno if legal action is really what im looking for i guess unless i could really fuck the guy over. Its real fucked up that he steals bikes from his tenants. My buddy got his DH bike stolen earlier in the year and I have a bunch of friends still sending that mother fucker rent checks. If i could enforce some Hammurabi code and get away with it i would. Hes a grimey mother fucker.

Nice bike... Its the worst feeling ever when its just gone. I'd definitely call the police though. If you go to beat him up, (1) you might not get the bike back (2) you won't have the police on your side and (3) he could be able to take legal action upon you.

Take legal action. I'm sure there are other students on campus majoring in law, talk to them about what it would take to file suit against your landlord for stealing shit from his tenants. Shouldn't be tough.

Given that you did not file a report at the time, that's a problem... it's also a problem if your DH buddy didn't either

It shouldn't be tough to win though.

Don't be a dumbshit and try to hammurabi it though, that could get you in trouble very easily

just confront him on it, im sure if you went up to him and said thats my bike give it back , most would give it back, unless he denies it then you go to the pigs

ive got the bike back and hes no longer my landlord. I don't think I would want to or could beat him up...he has a lot of guns. I just want a creative way to make him realize that he sucks.

He's not your landlord any more? Not your problem any more, but you should definitely take him to court because then he'll get in the kind of trouble that will prevent him from screwing anyone else over.
