 I am ashamed to be an american. There are hundreds of things wrong with the USA but i will focus on just two. The first being the envioronment. Global warming is no joke so if you belive that its just am myth you are either misinformed or you are an idiotic biggit. As Americans we use 20,680,000 barrles of oil every day! That means the US emits 65142000 gallons of co2 emmision per day. What does this mean? It means don't be an asshole and ride your fucking bike to work instead of taking that huge gas gussling truck in your driveway and driving it 10 miles. Also YOU DON'T EFFING NEED A 15 FOOT LONG 3 TONNE TRUCK. The american dream is over. That is the plain and simple truth. We no longer live in a land of plenty were you can use as much oil electricity and water as your obesse cholestorol clogged heart desires. If global warming continues at the rate it is at skiing will be none existant in Colorado in 30 years. If it continues Florida will be submerged, the west will turn into a huge dessert. Oh yeah! and another thing if any of you live in Nevada or California THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FUCKING WATER FOR YOU TO HAVE AN 18 HOLE GOLF COURSE AND A HUGE GREEN LAWN. Get over it. We don't have enough room for curing AIDS or cancer because we are already over populated. It sucks but as a race we cannot afford anothe billion people on this planet raping the earth for their convience. So on the subject of Global warming i challenge you to have the balls to reduce your water and electricity use. Go to a Tea Party meeting and have the balls to tell all those people who think Global Warming is Al Gore's fantasy that they are blind to the truth and that their ideas are outdated and that they need to get their heads out of their asses and stop ruining my fucking powder days.

The second reason why i am ashamed to be an American is our corrupt, money obsessed society. Politicians are so open to bribes and lobbying. It makes me sick. Also how congress cannot pass a bill for the greater good to save their lives because OF THEIR MUTHER EFFING POLITICAL PARTY. We can't even pass a bill to provide first responders to 9/11 with health care because the president is a democrat? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I think the only solution to fix our goverment is to wipe it clean and start over, and while your at it make it a requirment for congress that you cannot be an asshole. I guess i aim too high for the government because it is human nature to be greedy bastards. But i urge you to save the environment. What we are doing to the Earth is like selling a beautiful daughter into prostitution. I urge you to post something simular to the first paragraph anywhere were it will get read. Its just bullshit that people aren't trying to stop Global Warming. Please try to help so that you can teach your kids how to ski not just tell them about when it was still possible.

global warming is a complete joke. history shows it.

and saying the earth's surface is 3/4 water. we are not running out of water.

We are running out of potable water, running out of oil, and polluting our lands and seas with overcrowding, over hunting, and dumping. You know there's an island made of trash the size of two Texas's floating in the pacific? If global warming isn't a significant issue, then the rest of this list is.

And this is why i moved out of the country. for all that dont believe in global warming look at the north/ south poles and see just how much ice we are losing. It's a BIG problem , arctic ice is rapidly disappearing and the reagion may have its first COMPLETELY ice free summer by 2040 or earlier. Glaciers and mountains snows are rapidly melting. For example Montana's glacier national park now has only 27 compared to 150 in 1910. Its not that hard to try and do your part im not saying go eco crazy but don't leave your lights on at night, don't buy hummers or other gas guzzlers (this will also help eliminate our dependancy on foreign oil which has gotten the US into the shit hole it's in right now). Just try and respect our planet.

but seriously, don't get me wrong, i believe to a certain extent but not nearly what the average american does. my high school bio teacher and i have had numerous talks about this subject so don't go slamming "evidence" in my face.

Global warming is still fairly inconclusive. There are plenty of theoretical models, but few actual real world experiments that demonstrate the CO2 warming effect. One of the engineering capstone groups in my class is devising such an experiment, so it will be interesting to see what results they obtain.

If you looked on the global scheme of things water is a HUGE issue. The ignorance of American's like you compounds this problem greatly. And we don't have plenty of water in America, the Colorado River used to flow into the Pacific Ocean every year. It's been over ten years since one droplet of water has made it's way all the way to the Pacific, meaning that if one state is cutting back on their water use, another state is using that water. I'm sorry you're so uneducated on such an important issue.

To OP, I agree and respect that you brought up these issues because education is the only thing that can help Americans.

Only three percent of the water is fresh and 90 percent of the freshwater on earth is not readily available because it is stored in ice caps. Only 0.25% of the water on this world is available for humans and other forms of life. Of this .25% Only 0.014% of this water can be used for drinking water production, as most of it is stored in clouds or in the ground. Get learned bitch.


Also, I can't believe people still don't believe in global warming? There have been so many studies proving increasing temperatures over centuries, what's not to get?

Global warming evidence is inconclusive. There is no debate about that. Al Gore is not only a hypocrite, but has helped politicize an issue that needs to remain neutral in that aspect. The same goes for any republican basing their views solemnly on this issue.

Stop looking at this issue via political talking points. It does nothing but engender bias and make the situation even harder to deal with.

With that said if you think that humans haven't had an impact on the earth you are living in a dream world. Domestication of animals (specifically cows), alternation of water sources, privatization of water, agricultural irrigation deforestation, etc. Hell, Vegas wouldn't even exist if it didn't allocate water from different states. Quite often the micro impacts we have go overlooked because of it not conclusively raising the earth's temperature. There are certain proven repercussions of some of these actions that will contribute to directly altering certain areas here on earth. Not to say that this is going to melt all the ice caps, that could very well be a natural transition. We don't know enough about the earth's climate history to make a speculation like that. Factors laid in bedrock are good but not perfect tools for assessing this.

So I don't know, I am not educated enough on the subject. Unfortunately I don't think very many people are and there is certainly nobody that has the answer. Hopefully someday some independent research not associated with think tanks is available.

this is such bullshit, while all that ice is "rapidly" melting, ice is forming at the same pace, in alot of cases even faster. you just dont hear about it. its not lying to say that ice is melting, its just not the whole truth. glaciers form and melt, the earth is not just completely stationary and everything stays the same. there are parts of greenland that supported viking colonies 1000 years ago that are covered with ice now. even if glaciers were melting faster than they were forming, all it means is that the earth is doing the same thing its always done. the amount of ice covering earth has never stayed the same. its always growing or decreasing.
