i saw some pictures from the video, and i thought i had to see it. so i searched for it and found it after a really long time. they have taken it off of like every site. it took me 10 minutes to decide whether to watch it or not. i am seriously scared, it was one of the creepiest things i have ever seen. seeing the guy hold the head up with an expression still on the face. i dont know guys, but if u wanna watch it be ready.

^Im really disturbed that you'd call them animals, after the americans put them on leashes and force them to sodomize eachother. And not just that. The fact that they are doing it to him, they are physically cutting off his head, compared to americans who sit in a warm comfy plane miles away, push a button and the shrapnel from the bomb they just dropped cuts of the heads, arms and legs of women and children. How are we not animals as well?

ok, so they did it before the prison abuse so it was just for 'kicks'. then what did the americans abuse the prisoners in retaliation to? It doesnt need to be warrented in order to make it ok. There is some fucked up stuff going on right now, and i respect your opposition to the war etc.

^No he wasn't. His body was found 8th of May and those jail abuse pictures were first shown 28th of April.

dude, come on, who in their right mind would rather have their head sawed off as opposed to being raped. taking it up the ass is sick and brutal. How dare you not find a link between the recent attacks in iraq and al-quida. The CIA has determined that al-zharwie was the one who cut off the head of nick berg. He is part of the upper echelon of the terror network and we’ve been after him for some time now. They are as much in iraq as America is. With how comfortable they are it wouldn’t be a surprise to me if they were in place before hand (though there is no proof of that last statement, merely hypothetical).

As for the decapitating of Berg, it was his fault but in NO way did he have it coming or deserve it. No he shouldn’t have been treated that way, but his traveling to iraq and then failure to leave when the FBI warned him near the end of march (3/30/04 I believe was the date they told all civilians to leave). I’m sickened by the act that is portrayed in that video. Everyone SHOULD watch it, I feel that as an American we need to see what they would do to us given the chance.

The bottom line is that after seeing the video I have much more confidence that we are in Iraq for the right reasons. There are sick people there who need to be dealt with, this only re-affirms that to me. One can only hope that if kerry is elected that he doesn’t pussyfoot around the terrorists like the leaders of spain and france, because cowardace is exactly what you need to show to a rouge terrorist organization…

Also, the USA is the #1 superpower in the world because we don’t follow appeasement, because we have the know how and courage to do what others don’t wish to dirty their hands with.

the decapitated him and then hung the body from an overpass, thats low. i am in no way for the war in iraq, but that pissed me off. nobody should have to find out that their son was decapitated and then the body was hung from a bridge.

vid is there as of 11 on friday. I agree with the others that have pointed out how ridiculous doing that to a civilian is. I'd say that all the things I've heard we did to our prisoners in no way compare to that.

Think about what it would be like mentally to know that you were a prisoner of al-qaeda, and that no matter what you did, a gruesome death awaited. I wouldn't know how to deal with that.

There is NO way to rationalize this, some of our soldiers screwed up hard core. If I were there and had received those ordered I would have gone to a superior officer. They are dishonored (one thing north Americans and most Europeans have NO concept of) and in time I hope that they are able to restore their honor. They at least have that opportunity and the gift of time.

Should they have slaughtered Nick Berg as they did? Absolutely not, it only lowered them to the level of the degenerate reservists. Although time and time again we’ve been privy to disregard to honor and respect, or what is a better way to phrase this, been privy to the inability to act like men from these terrorists.

I wish we would just go back to the old way of getting people to do what we want them to, playing country music really loud 24/7 until they comply… can anyone say Iran conflict?

Skiierman this is why you shouldn’t hold political office or be in the armed forces… no discernment at all and as for the video, yes is was gruesome but I have seen worse and still believe every american should see this tape.

To return the ‘favor’ by torturing and/or killing the terrorists would be only to lower to their level and encourage lower ranks to step up into a roll of leadership and power which was recently removed (under the assumption that we just caught them). If you are brutal towards them you will only fuel what they have taught and trained these poor boys to believe whereas if you treat them humanly and with respect the structure they are build around, in time, will collapse as the rage and drive they have to fill the ‘void’ of leadership will be diminished.

To break the backbone of this movement we cannot appease them, we must attack them and take them prisoner whenever possible. We HAVE to treat them better then they would expect (I’m not saying some 5 star resort, they are still in prisoners of the army) and treat them how they desire to be treated.

There is an anti-western/American sentiment fueled by many muslim clerics across the mid/near-east (most obvious is our shia friend in iraq). There are many views in islam which we, either as Christians or being raised in a Christian culture, can’t understand or comprehend. I wish I had a broader understanding of the teachings of the Koran, it’s one of the things I plan on studying once I get a better grasp on the biblical teachings and have more scripture memorized.

i find it good that skiierman has that reaction. I wish the media wouldn't censor that video, and would show it to all americans. After 9/11 the whole country was united against terrorism, and all it entailed. To me, the killing of Nick Berg was just as cowardly a form of 'war' on us as the 9/11 hijackings.

Anyway, maybe if more Americans saw that video, and it got as much coverage as the torture photos, America might get that sentiment again.

I'm not a fan of war, or violence, but, I want to live in a world free from terrorism, and if it means we have to go to war, then so be it. Are we getting help from countries in the mid east that are harboring al-qaeda? No. What does that make them? Enemies to us. America may not be perfect, but it is certainly a bigger proponent of peace than many nations of the mideast. That doesnt mean we shouldnt fight when we have to. If the slaying of that innocent man in such a brutal manner isn't a call to arms, then I dont know what is.

i never cited iraq as a country harboring terrorists - i said countries in the mid east. for that matter, iraq as a country barely exists right now, being as it doesnt really have a government.

as for the 'nuke em' comment, using a nuke makes no sense whatsoever in the current global situation anyway.

that brings up an interesting point though. Was putting 2 jets through the world trade center any different than dropping a nuke on hiroshima? Both had the effect of killing large amounts of civilians.

Of course, one was during a war, and one was an unprovoked act of terrorism. However, during a war, how different are the two?

People here are so shocked in concern to the Beheading and Prisoners Abuse, and its getting old. There have been incidents much worse, and people need to know that Iraqi's and Al-Quaeda members alike would die to kill American's, whether involved in the military or plain old civilians. Plus, whoever said the Geneva Convention completely guards against POW Abuse, the United States has been taking POW's to countries that did not sign the Geneva Convention, and tortured them for information. The United States have long been torturing enemies, so people need to take the recent abuse with a grain of salt. In the 'Rape of Nanjing', Japanese Warriors stormed Nanjing (or Nanking) and brutally killed the vast majority of Men and Children, and Raped the vast majority of Women in the city, killing them and adding them to the pile afterwards. Now, I am not looking down on the Japanese for doing this, I am only using this as one example that beatings and rape happen all over the world, and that the Prison Abuse in Iraq is getting beaten to death.

^^ The world Trade Center and Hiroshima are completely different. We weren't even involved in WW2 until the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor. So Hiroshima was a retaliation. So if you were going to compare, Pearl Harbor and WTC would have more similarities.

Well,today in iraq,45 people(the majority militians,I believe)have been killed.
All of them had families and friends,and they were loved and supported,just as American Soldiers are(or maybe even more,due to to the current scandal with the prisoners). A lot of people think that the Iraq war is nonsense,and now what I see is just a blood bath.A blood bath between people who fight for their security and 'freedom',and people who fight to'liberate' their oppressed country.Quite frankly,I can't support anyone in this war,I can't say I am with the americans,but I also can't say I am with the insurgents.BUT one thing is for sure,I do feel terribly sorry for the ones that have been involuntarily involved in this conflict.I am sorry for the kids that lost their parents and for the parents that lost their kids in the war.
Some people discuss the necessity of war in order to secure their own interests,some other people believe that the United States are doing a favor to the world,and some other people believe the Irak occupation was and is a mistake.
Personally,I hope it ends soon.
But now Bush has announced that the troops will stay after July the 1st,and i don't know what to think of that.

I agree with Canon rider. The thing is this was one guy being killed when thousands of Iraqis have been killed in their own country by bombs being dropped on them. Is it any better to press a button up in the sky and kill many people in a sofisticated manner than to cut one guys head off? I dont think it is, especially when you are bombing people in their own country. The thing is it seems so much more shocking at first glance to behead someone but at the end of the day America has done so many worse things, they are just smarter with the way they go about it and present it. And I am not anti America I think its an amazing country you just need to get rid of your jackass president as soon as possible.

Saying that the Iraqi prisoners were the worst of the worst is ignorant, we are in an active act of searching for insurgents. That means that we will arrest you (if there is some evidence) then ask questions later. Currently we can’t take chances of doing full-scale investigations because in the time for that to happen more of our troops could die. That is why so many people are in prison. They didn’t deserve it. Stop rationalizing it. They deserve to be interrogated and kept behind bars and out of our hair while we rebuild that country from the mess Saddam left it in.

And to those who are complaining about collateral damage, I’m sorry that it is part of war but after all that is what this is, war. People will die, people involved and people who are just there. You should be grateful for the low number of collateral damage thanks to new technology instead of complaining about those shrinking numbers.

To those who think you can liberate a country then leave have another thing coming. You guys know that we STILL have troops in Japan from WWII who are there to make sure things go well? We are in this for a very long time and will most likely have a presence in Iraq for the next century. That is how this works. Or you can do what the French did in the Congo… pull out before the UN arrives (because you announce you are pulling out of the country) and allow the massacre to resume in the few week absence. That, though, is why we don’t take advice from Europe.
