If it wasn't global then I'm either assuming you think it didn't happen at all (which is hard to believe since there are several ancient writings about a devastating flood outside of Christianity/Judaism) or that the flood was localized in which case I have this image of what a local, devastating flood would look like:

Scroll down a little and there is a chart comparing the two.  Seems pretty similar except for the length of the flood, but the extent is the same: global.

if thats how you feel about it, then im happy that you're happy. i think its important to allow people to do their own thing. whether that be sucking dick or doing drugs or believing in a god. if they can do these things without hurting the people around them, then im fine with letting them be.

Hmm...didn't really say that, not sure where you got that idea from.  I'm saying that since there are several recordings of a very similar story it gives credence to said story actually having occurred.

Yeah but that means the bible stole it, therefore God never told Noah to build an ark, because other Gods were busy telling Utnapishtim to build a fucking ark. THAT's why.

I'll give you props for trying.

The way I see it is that God has always exsisted.  Now, before you go crazy for me saying that, think of it like this.  We all know that nothing can come out of nothing.  So if nothing ever existed than nothing could ever exist.  So for there to be anything existing something had to exist.  This existence is God and from Him came the world and planets etc that we see.

Point taken, I can appreciate your view on this as for even a Christian this can be difficult to accept.  I guess this sprouts from us having different views on who or even what God is.  See, I don't really think that God is something really created with matter, so I don't see Him as having to be created, where I'm assuming if you do believe in God that you would take it that he would be something that has matter and needs to have a creation (I don't want to put words in your mouth, though).

Matter didn't come from anywhere. It was a singularity. The universe is made up of matter and anti-matter. We know of antimatter because it has gravity that we can observe, such as seeing light bent and twisted from distant stars due to large clusters of anti-matter. There is an equal amount of matter and anti-matter so when you put it alllllll back together you get 0. That is what supports the big bang from a singularity. The matter isn't created, the matter and anti-matter were somehow ripped apart and that gave us the matter.

I'm probably going to end up eating my own words here, but I should clarify that God is a special being (He is God, for those that believe) and therefore would be outside of the laws of our universe but also able to interact with the universe.

the stanley miller experiment has been shown to have had many flaws and has been thrown out as a legitimate explanation to the source of life. there are many theories about the origins of life, but nobody who actually studies it claims to know for sure.

I've said it before, but what I don't understand is why people think we are special enough for all that religious stuff to exist. In the entire lifespan of the universe, the Earth has been around for a very tiny percentage. Then on the span of the Earth, people have been around for a small portion. If the universe was created by God, what was he doing for the billions of years before the Earth was around? Then what about when the Earth was here, but there weren't any people?

It just doesn't make any sense. We are so inconsequential in the scheme of the universe. Religion makes it seem like people are important and the center of everything, when our entire existence is/will be just a small spec on the gigantic canvas of "everything."
