feel as though there has been a huge influx of new "freestyle" skiers in the last few months on this site as well as on the mountain- thought this could be a place where everyone shared what they think should be known ie tips, videos, just basic shit

so I guess ill go first- I had been on twin tips for about 2 years when Tom yelnatzes superunknown dropped- and to this day it has defined skiing for me- big clothes, banging music, as well as brought more light onto the rail aspect of skiing



any 4bi9 or roundtop rider edit as well


I dont want to take everything for myself so lets all share

Please rip that and post it as an .AVI somewhere, for the love of god. ANY of the old Ostness movies, they're impossible to find and its getting to the point where the VHS is so old and deteriorated that I fear they may disappear from existence entirely. Can I get a "We need to archive this shit somewhere" hell ya?

Everybody should just watch the beginning of transitions. It's free on the freeskier podcast and it covers in detail the new Canadian air force and the start of freeskiing. It also shows the rivalry between Simon Dumont and tanner, which has progressed freeskiing on it's own

I want to apologize for possibly "hating" on those things, i definitely didn't mean to. I phrased my words incorrectly. It is really sick how many kids have gotten into skiing because of Wally and 4bi9, for sure.

I guess what I was trying to say is, if you got into freestyle skiing in that era, then there is still a lot of history before that you should check out. word?! needed to get that off my chest....

also should have had these on my list:

Sick Sense (MSP) ("The New Canadian Airforce!")
The Game (PBP)

those were the first 2 ski movies I saw that got me into freestyle.

i feel that candide and pep have not been mentioned enough. pioneers of style, tricks and backcountry insanity.

also, mikeal deschneaux (sp?) was mentioned. such an underrated and forgotton skier. throwing switch tens with gangsta steeze before that was even cool
