Hello NS, today I have come to tell you NOT to deal with Hunts Photo & Video. They sell online and have various stores throughout New England. Why not to deal with them you ask? Here's why.
I dropped my camera with my 18-55 kit lens on it. The UV filter did its' job and saved the camera lens but cracked. I carefully removed the glass, and took it to Hunts Photo & Video so they could properly de-thread the remaining ring. I suggested to the lady to use a UV Wrench or a Vice. She told me it won't come off by hand and to thread a UV Filter over the remaining ring. She tried to sell me a $60 dollar UV Filter to thread over a remaining UV Filter Ring! Some un-intelligent camera person could have bought that extra UV Filter and fucked up their focus ring. I told the lady that she can use the UV wrench to get the filter off. She told me it won't possibly come off. I got extremely pissed off and left the store.
Today, a month later, I took it to another local camera store, I told the guy about my experience and he replied 'amateurs' he used the vice and carefully removed the UV ring for no charge.
Now I know big deal, as long as you don't break your UV Filter, you shouldn't have a problem with Hunts. Well, I saw them removing a lens off a camera with the camera facing up thus collecting dust on the sensor. Not proper...oh and when I went in to look at their other lens' they didn't offer me to test it on any body, the local store offered me a D300 or a T2i. Plus the fact that the lady tried to sell me another UV Filter knowing that it would severely fuck up and weigh down my focus ring disappoints me.
Just trying to save you guys I guess!
