Anyone know about building a website/FileZilla?

Hey guys, i'm new to website building and trying out my first website. I just made a basic ".htm" file with Publisher to test out FTP transferring, but can't seem to get it to work.

I used both the FTP program on GoDaddy's site, as well as FileZilla. I can't get the .htm file to appear on the website. I tried creating a "www" subdirectory and putting the file in there, as well as just putting it in the main directory. Neither works.

how do you know it didnt work? i only ask because a www folder is in the right window (your uploaded window) and on the log it says directory listing successful. im no filezilla expert, i just use it occasionally at work, but that usually means it worked..

If you don't know too much about building websites, have a look at squarespace.com.

I don't think it work because when you go to the website,

www.chillaxable.com

it still has the "File Not Found" screen. Shouldn't my .html file image be what appears on the website now?

And yes, i also have it hosted with GoDaddy so that shouldnt be a problem.

Yeah, you'll need to put a index.html file in your root directory (just to try it out).
If you use windows, just open notepad, type a message and save it as index.html, then upload it to your server.

www.w3schools.com also have some good tutorials .

If you are new to the website building game, better stay away from it as it can consume a huge amount of time.  I suggest you can either join word press and build sites on the blog platform.  Alernatively you can join the affilojetpack program of Mark Ling before 1st August and get 5 niche website with all the contnet and tools for you to promote them.
