Theres a univerisity in washington dc called howard which first of all sucks, but basically you cannot go there unless you are black. This seems kinda unjust in my opinion. i mean what if there was a university that you could not go to unless you were white?

I think you can go there if you are white but its a traditionally black school. It's really not that bad of a school either... a couple of my friends are going there

In a system based on equality, are you seriously suggesting that reverse racism is not racism? That racial quotas, affirmative action, and exclusionary state practices are not inherently anti-democratic? I am perfectly fine with the fact that Howard bills itself as an all-black school...if only it were true, there are white students there. A private institution should be allowed to bar whites from attending if it works for their business model. Now, if I said that the other way around, I would be labeled a bigot...wouldn't be the first time.

Yes you're right but that's not what I was talking about. Racism is ubiquitous no matter what race it may be but there is no reason for people to get upset when blacks do something that whites did for such a long time. And just for the record, just because you say something like that doesn't mean you're a bigot...whoever called you that because you voiced your opinion is fucking retarded. So just because other white people did shit back in the day its okay if black people do it to us, even though we didnt have anything to do with it. I live in the deep south and I see more racism from blacks than I do from whites.


The thing is if someone made a college that was primarily white and wanted to use that as a business model and rejected blacks because of it, everyone would be all over their ass about it. Double standards are everywhere.

here's a quick lesson...

- first off, omarosa is smart as fuck and that crazy bitch attitude is for TELEVISION. its an act to fool idiots like you who think that's how she really is so you give her all this attention for being so outrageous. she in turn makes bank.

- it is not an "all black" school. so fucking what if they favor one applicant over another. its like BYU where they highly favor mormons more than anyone. people can still go there regardless of your backround but its a lot harder to get in. it is the same as ivy league schools and if you're a legacy you have a much better chance of getting in.

basically this is just a reason for white kids to pretend to have a "cause" and even more so, one that includes them being oppressed. fucking grow up and stop being so stupid. accept the fact that you have nothing to complain about you attention hungry, cock-suckers.

-I understand that. I dont have a problem with it. I honestly dont care. its not my school and not my business until I apply there. Im making a point that if a school actively portrayed themselves as a white school and sought out white students, they would be hated by everyone. They would have news headlines saying they are racist and everything else, as well as the NAACP all over their asses.

I dont see how my post or others illustrate any sort of ideas we have of having a "cause" and being oppressed. My intention was to show what I just said above. None of us think we are oppressed. Thats fucking crazy. Youre getting all pissed off and reading too much into it and seeing things that arent there. The only issue I care about is affirmative action, but thats about it.

howard is in one of the worst neighborhoods in the district. my dad works at the university hospital sometimes as a sub and he is the only white person in the building at all times.

howard is an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and University), a league of similar schools such as moorehouse and spellman. They do admit white students, as well as latinos, asians, etc. if they didn't they would not be an accredited institution of higher learning. Howard is overwhelmingly black, but this is not because it does not admit other races, but because the school attracts a certain demographic: minority students seeking to live and learn in an environment with likeminded individuals. the same could be said for every college, howard's demographic just happens to be overwhelmingly formed of minorities. This thread is beyond ignorant, and half of you don't really know what you are talking about. it's this sort of unfounded thought that gives schools like howard, and other institutions,academic or otherwise, an undeserved reputation for being "racist." Is there anything wrong with going to school with people you identify with? it just so happens that many of the students at HBCUs identify most closely with members of their own community and mindset, regardless of race. also, the howard neighborhood isn't that bad, and certainly not one of the worst in the district. i wouldn't even put it in the top 5.

I agree with you there, but there's lots of cool stuff around howard, and the people studying at the school or living in the neighborhood are, for the most part, really nice, decent, and engaging people. and yeah, compared to potomac, it is a really different place, i'll give you that for sure haha
