haha not even gonna lie, i heard bulletproof like a week or so ago at the gym and i thought it was a pretty dope song. airplanes by b.o.b and fame are both good, but the problem with the radio is that they get over played..but forever fuck lady gaga and her stupid ass songs
All pretty sick songs. Airplanes by B.O.B is so dope but there are better songs by Mike Posner IMO and bulletproof is dope but the dubstep version is way sicker.
there are much better things to do with your life than spend it ruining others. -wh@t
Skiing is an art form, an escape from all things bad, skiing is perfect, skiing is my obsession.
Love is the amazing shivers you get when you're silently slipping through trees on a powder day, that overwhelming feeling of contentment where your heart beats a little faster and louder. That unmistakable grin of happiness that you can't shake off. It's unconditional, it's unbeatable, it's compassion and it's adventure.
Well on that first video, no. Hypercrush is murdering the underground of 8-bit/synth music by going mainstream with their overly simple techno beats and shallow (I'm a cool guy who likes attractive women) lyrics.
"Wind, water, fire, earth. Fuckin' magnets, how do they work?"
If you keep the tees above your knees you will maximize your potential steeze
"Good" is a relative term. What is good to the mainstream & radio listening audience is not good to most people who are passionate about music or those who are trained in music. What succeeds mostly in the mainstream are songs that are simplistic and repetitive with very little improvisation. Songs almost always have to be in the 2-4 minutes length (although there have been exceptions such as stairway to heaven). There is a proven formula for creating hit singles. As a music fan most of these songs I would not consider to be "good" but that is relative. Obviously lots of people enjoy them or else they wouldn't be played.
Music can also be too skewed the other direction as well (i.e. too complicated, not repetitive enough, with too much improvisation). An example of this would be free jazz. A type of music where the musicians are pretty much improvising everything. To the untrained listener it sounds like complete shit. Even a lot of musicians don't appreciate it, some do though. But it will NEVER be popular despite the difficulty involved:
I was going to listen to them and then give you an informed opinion, but I pressed play on the first video, heard the first 5 seconds, and was too embarrassed to even play it (there are a couple people over at my house) sounded like awful synth pop. So yeah that first song is for sure as bas a soulja boy, I'm not even gonna listen to the other ones.
Ok so that second song was actually pretty decent it didn't make me want to gouge out my eyeballs with a spoon at all. The other ones......oh my god. The last one was bad enough but that first one was actually unlistenable I had to turn it off after 45 seconds.
I heard hathbanger on the radio last summer so I'm gonna go with yes. Although that was the only time I've listened to the radio in about 6 years. Now I listen to NPR or Jazz if I HAVE to put something on.
It's so sad that you aren't more open minded. I used to think I was cool for hating on mainstream music just like you. Then I wised up a few years ago and decided to not be uptight.
Let me list off a few good mainstream listens I've heard the past few months. I won't include Distant Relatives since you've got that covered.
Drake - Thank me later
Ratatat - LP4
Horse the Band - Infinite Arms
Janelle Monae - The Archandroid
Minus the Bear - Omni
High Violet - The National
B.o.B - Adventures of Bobby Ray
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Pt. 2
I won't bother listing the countless other mixtapes and singles I've heard that I have enjoyed. And I won't put MGMT's new album because that's just too much controversy to bring up. But seriously man, all the albums up there were really enjoyable listens. You can't expect every album you pick up to be a 2 year project between two of the biggest names in their respective genre. You wouldn't turn down a blowie from a 7 just because there's a 10 at the party would you?
