NS Runners- How can you get faster?

I am a pretty fast kid and I was thinking about playing track next year. I have played tennis since almost 6th grade but I'm not too good, i'm average but that's not where I want to be. I figured since i'm a fast kid I could run the 100 meter or something like that. A lot of my friends run track and I am a lot faster then them (granted, they are long distance). So anyways if i am going to play track next year, I want to be more then ready. So post any exercises that can help you get faster and increase your agility.

P.S. Yes, I could always google search and I have, but I would much rather have the opinions of fellow NSers.

yea this is right, my bad i didnt read the whole thing...

cant help you too much with sprints, but from what i see it involves lots of drills

You don't "play track" your "run track" and also start with some 15-30 min runs the first week then bump it to 45 min runs the second week then start doing what your training for, sprints and strides if you wanna do sprints, or start doing hills and intervals if your into long distance stuff.

..the runs won't do anything, steady state cardio really isn't relevant to any short distance running.

anyways...Run 8 400s in a row, walking a 400 in between each. you'll be tough

and learn how to Power Clean in the weight room. IMO is the single best lift for sprinting, as it develops your explosiveness exponentially. I still have my high school P/C record at 260, and the 4X4 record at 3.29.08. It stood for 40+ yrs before we broke it my senior yr. claim.

running barefoot, so helpful, and personally makes it more fun.
you feel so much lighter and it gives me a sense that i am faster
